Anyone tried modding a Universal Game Case to fit a Super Game Boy?

It looks like iit'll fit, but wanted to see if anyone actually did it. I mean, we have a cover for it, so it's gotta be done somehow.

I did it with a fat black UGC from work that I swapped out with my own.  Fits like a charm

It "should" fit. I got one at home and planned to switch the paper box with the plastic case. Guaranteed that you gotta do some cutting!

It fits, you just have to remove all the pieces of plastic from the inside except the very top and bottom pieces. You remove the parts as you would when modding it to fit NES games.

I found that after removing those tabs the case still wouldn't close; the Game Boy insertion slot is just a little too thick.

I dont know how you guys are getting the Super Game Boy to fit inside a clear UGC when my Fatter Black UGC still bulges out.  I have cut all the pieces inside to make it fit, but as doukas stated, the tab that secures the SNES game to the SGB is way to thick.  Did you guys remove the "flap"...... oh wait... I am talking about a Game Genie for the SNES... hahahahahaha....

I still think though that the Super "GAME BOY" (god I hope my mind is on the right accessory now) is too thick.  I tried it out on a spare clear case and didnt get it to fit.  I cased the SNES Game Genie and not the Super Game Boy first because there is no Vertical Style Cover for the SGB yet (there is on the forums, but I cant seem to find the download to it).

I'll take a picture of it when I get back from class, I assure you it fits in a clear UGC.

It fits in a double-width dvd case [such as those that hold 8 discs], you just need to remove the little disc holder/release button thing.

They're slightly taller and wider than a UGC though, so not recommended if you're going for a uniform look.

But for anyone in PAL regions where the UGCs are a) expensive to ship, and b) not too useful as the SNES games are a different shape, these 8-disc dvd cases are a more than adequate substitute. Covers printed at their normal size leave about a 3mm gap at the top of the case, but look good regardless, in my opinion.

Indeed it does fit in a UMC, but it does bulge ever so slightly, making it difficult to remove from a shelf if you've got it so packed in you don't have a few millimeters of leeway. The bigger problem is fitting GameGenie for SNES. You'll actually need to modify and remove the back plastic if you want to fit it. For this reason, I went and bought a second one which I just keep in storage.

here's a pic of the inside (everything cut out except the two pieces that hold the cartridge in):

and a pic closed (can't really see the bulge here though...)

Placing it in this UGC to the left eliminates bulges for the Super Game Boy  ;D

edit** again I got mixed up.. but still, the bulge is from the "Game Genie" which is *MUCH* thicker than the Super Game Boy

When cutting everything out, does the case still snap close?

but only slightly. Like I said, it wont matter so long as you have a few mm clearance on your shelf.
