It looks good to me, too. My big issue with it, though, is the fact that the art on the back is from the Paper Mario game for the Wii and not the N64 one.

Actually, the art is from the N64 version.  The background image is a picture of all of the companions that Mario can meet in the game.  The screenshots are from a re-textured version of the game running on the Project 64 emulator.  As for the white text on the yellow background, that's a fair point.  The original box had white text, but the yellow background was more of a gold color and the text stood out more.  I'll make some additional changes.

I just realized that... I'm not 100% sure, though. The art looks like it might be a culmination of all the characters met in ALL the Mario games. The only one that I can point out that strikes me as out of place is that angular butterfly-looking thing. I'm pretty sure that's from the Wii game. I'm not certain, though...

I could probably change that as well.  Not a big deal.

So I decided to go ahead and make a vertical cover for Mega Man 64 because I really need to case my copy. I don't do this sort of thing really so any tips would be appreciated!

Well I had a go at a couple of covers. I'm quite happy with how they turned out so criticize as much as you like, I'll still be using them  ;D

Would you mind giving direct link to the actual covers.
Please link thru Mediafire or Box.net, as these two don't f*** up the covers, like imageshack does.

The Mario Golf one is alright. I know the cover we already had on the site that you used as your source image was pretty terrible quality, so I can't blame you for that one.

The back of Mario Party seems to have suffered the same fate as Paper Mario, though. A case of old game, new art. The Mario Party art on the back is from Mario Party DS. But, still, it's on the back, so I don't give a crap.  :D

Any chance you could also make a US version of Mario Party?

I've been picking up some n64 games lately.  I'm glad I found this site because I have the UGCs but they look so bad without a cover.  I've been trying to figure out how to go about making covers, which would be quite difficult for me seeing as I have no artistic skills.  Now I don't have to fret any longer because of those of you who are making these covers.  Keep up the good work & a million times thanks.

Sorry guys. I know there not perfect but I did them at work and was trying not to get caught  :D

I'll hopefully get some more done today. I'll also try and do Mario Party in NTSC.

  • Think off-center.
Try saving them to a site like mediafire or box.net

photobucket seriously downsized your images.

Thank you for the PAL covers. I haven't yet checked the quality.
