Finally got something that I have wanted for a very long time.  A TV Out modded Game Gear!  I had the work done by RetroMachineRepair on ebay.  It's using a Tim Worthington board and the seller did a great job on the whole thing.  Even got a few extra free games thrown in!  Time to finally start playing through some Game Gear games!  Check out the video:

It's a really cool little game and way over looked since it's on the Game Gear.  It was a lucky find from a comic convention years ago.

Well, it finally happened. I've been an eBay member for 3 days shy of 15 years and I finally got my first bad experience.  I ordered a copy of Half Life for PS2 (which I mentioned in another thread that I'm looking forward to playing next).  The listing described the game as "complete" and in "very good" condition.  Sure enough, I received it disc only with plenty of scratches.  The seller claims, "no returns," but I know better than that.  I already started the returns process.  I had my doubts with the auction, but I'm confident enough in eBay's return policy that I wasn't too worried.  The crappy part is now I will have to wait a lot longer before I can start the game.  It's just frustrating, but at least I've had pretty good luck for almost 15 years.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Definitely! I was lucky enough to grab a copy on eBay a few months back with the manual for decent price. But I don't have a video-out modded Game Gear, so I made myself a repro copy of the Game Gear to Master System conversion to play on the TV.

And seeing your video reminded me I needed to make a cover for my Game Gear copy. Since EU Game Gear manuals are the same size as Master System manuals, I slapped my cart and manual in an extra Master System case I had lying around and threw together a nice cover with some high-res scans I found a while back. Just gotta print it and she'll be nice and purdy on my shelf! ;)

Wow!  15 years and this is you FIRST bad experience?!  That's some sort of miracle  :o

You'll totally get your money back. I don't even look at feedback anymore. Don't know why anyone does really. If the seller screws up, eBay sides with the buyer 99.9% of the time.

Right.  I'm not worried about getting my money back.

On the bright side, I posted my same story on another group and someone had an extra copy of Half Life that they didn't need.  I ended up trading him an extra copy of New Super Mario Wii that I found at a garage sale.  It's much more fun trading with another collector than it is buying off eBay.

Awesome man!  I figured that would be one of the harder games to get a cover for when the Shadowfox cases finally get produced!

Quick update.  I got my money back today.  I still haven't received a return shipping label.  When I go to My eBay, it says the return is "complete."  Does that mean the seller isn't requesting the item to be returned?  I don't want to somehow lose my refund because I didn't send the item back.  However, I'm assuming that since the game is basically worthless since it's disc only (and the disc doesn't even read), he doesn't want to waste money paying to ship it back.  So I'm assuming that I'm done with this.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."
