They don't seem to realise that people who buy used games generally will not, or cannot afford to buy new.  And a lot of people who do buy new, buy it with the option of reselling it.  People will be way more hesitant to drop  40-60 on something that has little to no resale value the moment they leave the store.  Game sales will fall through the floor.

I truly believe they are going to launch a digital distribution channel that gives you a temporary licence for a  cheaper fee.   The connecting once a day thing just seems too odd.  Trying to finally give people the push away from physical media, and take out a massive amount of jobs, businesses and enjoyment from the gaming industry, for a larger slice of the pie!   No physical media, no used sales for people to cry about.  Play the game cheaper on Xbox than ps4, fanboys praise them. If this is their intention I hope it falls on its ass.  However I am reserving judgment (and as said above, I will probably end up with one),  it's a powerful bit of hardware,  and I am sure they will have the option of changing most of these things with firmware updates if they see sense.  And if they don't,  I'm sure someone will hack it - although I am guessing once that happens it will lose all the tv bullshit that nobody really wants anyway.

Yeah, that makes sense that there's going to be some angle behind it. They'll find some way to spin it to make it sound like it's really a better deal all around. I don't like what I'm seeing so far one bit, but I'm curious to see what kind of spin they put on this to make it sound like the future of gaming and acceptable.

Don't underestimate the stupidy of people.
Many already buy retail games from Live at full price.

Same price for DL copy and hard copy.

Can't resell the DL copy. ;D

Yup, same on PSN and Wii store - but i really cant imagine that it's a big slice of the market.  I imagine its more kids who get vouchers for their birthday, and just cant wait for the latest COD/FIFA/whatever.

I think it's a shame that future generations of kids might not have the excitement of saving up for a game, and going into a store with wall to wall games, and getting to browse them in person.  Hearing what other people are buying, and saying about the games, talking to the staff, seeing the posters, and even playing some.  That was part of the fun - looking at the manual and box while waiting to get home and play it.  What they are aiming for seems to be see video, click buy, wait 2 hours while it downloads, wait half an hour for install, wait another hour for updates, play game.  Oh....it's not as good as the video looked......

To be honest, I've bought a total of three games on the PSN, those being Journey, The Walking Dead, and Dissidia 012. I have bought about 10 games on the Wii's Virtual Console, the vast majority of which I already own the physical game. I think it's a convenient service, but saying that, bar a quick way to buy expansions and having a chance to play some rare games, its a novelty. The one thing that I'm really happy about is the chance to play Hammerin' Hero and Hexyz Force now.

I really hope people don't buy this thing.

No used games is terrible and it seems that lending a game will become obsolete as well.

Also on IGN it mentioned that you have to pay the same full fee if you want to install a used game on your xbox.

It makes owning a physical version almost pointless as if it wasn't bought new it's kind of useless.

If people vote with their wallets and don't purchase this crap then the industry will react accordingly.

Unfortunately it's just a matter of time before it goes 100% digital since today's generation of kids are growing up used to buying things digitally.

If they want to go digital and lock things to one account, etc. then they need pass some of the savings on to the customer.

A digital release should never cost the same as a physical copy.

Also I've stopped purchasing digital only games since it seems that they will be useless in 5-6 years as new hardware comes out and they blame it on "a different architecture" but I you can bet the digital games from last gen will show up on the current gen online shop for full price again.

So if you want to keep your old arcade games you can't trade in your old hardware.

I don't think they realize that many rely on reselling things to afford the new stuff.

When Xbox Two comes out people won't be able to sell their Xbox One and software since the software will be useless as the sellers account will be transferred over to Xbox Two

Actually after long thinking I did finally come up with scenario that would get me have the new Xbox as it currently is: If someone gives me the console for free and the games cost less than 10 bucks new.

New unopened games only thank you, I don't want to pay the activation fee.

Foresight: you have it.

With all the news that's been trickling out, I fear for the future of "serious" gaming.  I hope Sony makes the most of Microsoft's idiocy and that maybe, just maybe, Nintendo can push their way back to relevancy.

I absolutely will NOT buy this machine.  Between the required big brother connection, kinnect connection required (why, seriously?), and ZERO used game market, I am so beyond put off.  And, like so many of you, I don't need or want yet another "all in one" entertainment box.  My living room isn't "cluttered" with "too many devices" as they suggest.  Who's is anymore?  This isn't the late 80's when people had their wi-fi, tape deck, turn table, CD players, VCRs, with massive tower speaker setups etc. all stacked up on some massive rack.   That shit's all been so consolidated and reduced in physical size at this point.

If they stop focusing on gimmicky shit, and start focus on the spec's of their consoles and quality of their games and licensing, they just might become "relevant" again.

This.

Why they prevented playing NSMBU with Pro Pad?

One stage reguires motion control.

So why did they not add motion controll to Pro Pad then?

Here's what the cases are going to look like if anyones interested. Actually looks pretty nice IMO. Looks like they're taking the Blu-Ray/PS3 sized case route.

Well, they are bluray discs after all.  Green bluray cases.  Meh.  Nothing to get excited about as far as I'm concerned.

Ah, green, the stereotyped color of puke, which is all i want to do when it comes to the XBOX ONE. I'm just going to refer to it as the XBOX DONE (WITH IT).

No, but I'm glad that it's not just another DVD sized case. I'll bet Sony does something similar, like a smoke colored blu-ray case.
