Glad that the M$ plan is illwegal in Europe.

M$ cannot dictate who can resell their games.

It against both the monopoly laws and misuse of dominant position on market.

Yup. I know Sony's been in litigation regarding the sale of PSN accounts and games purchased via the PSN for a while now in the UK, since they've basically been told that users MUST be able to sell their digital-only games on their own and without interference from Sony.

We have laws that cover that, but Sony and the gang have craftily sidestepped them or simply haven't been called out by a large enough authority (yet).  I foresee some new DMCA stuff going into effect at some point soon...

I doubt it. Court verdicts and Congress have been leaning heavily in favor of manufacturers over consumers these last couple of years. Companies like Microsoft have enough money to toss at lawyers and lobbyist to gain the favor they want. Only in America can you buy something, own it, and still not have the right to do what you want with it.

This thread has been a great read, and I agree with what what many of you are saying.  I also have no plans on buying this at all.  However, I wonder if many being so sure that it will fail is because we are all like minded and agreeing with each other and reading websites that are also of like mind, but are in the minority.  Hardly any kind of full evidence, but I work in a big IT office with a lot of average "non-video game nerdy" thirty-something dudes who all own 360s.  Every time I have brought this up, every single person I talk to says, "well of course I plan on buying the new one" and when I bring up the concerns that have been beaten to death by the likes of us it is met with confusion.  They don't care.  I'd like to see this system fail but I don't know if it will and I'm curious to see how it all plays out.

Apparently region locked too ... Not looking too good and I can't see them securing any exclusives that I'll need to play.

I only bought a 360 because of the Mistwalker games (Blue Dragon / Lost Odyssey) initially and I can't see something like this happening with xbox one.  JRPG exclusives will be for the PS4.

I would have to agree with you, except the fact it's been going on a lot longer than a few years now.

The system isn't even out yet, and it already bores me.

So, as I've stated before, I am not in the "I am definitely not getting this" camp just yet. I need to see more before I make a decision (like price and actual gameplay footage). However, I am really getting sick of Microsoft employees saying something is a feature then other employees saying you misunderstood. It's like they are purposely "leaking" information to gauge public reaction then change it if it's not a well liked feature. Just tell what it does and doesn't do already and quit backtracking on everything you say.

This... I think their just seeing how much they can get away with?
