It's a tough as balls Famicom only game in the Castlevania tradition.

I'm necro'ing this thread because the song "Holy Diver" by Dio was stuck in my head this week. For giggles I decided to make a localized cover and label for Holy Diver featuring art from the Dio album. I'm not particularly into the game since it's a bit too hard for me, but this was a fun distraction. Maybe I'll give the game another go. Enjoy!

Wait, so does Holy Diver actually mean something? I just assumed that it was just two random words thrown together, like "Toilet Orange" or something. Never heard of the song or played the game, by the way. "She's a holy diver, diver for money.." No? I'll let myself out..

Very little found on the internet

This song is about Satan, and his descent to Hell (his "dive"). The lyrics deal specifically with Revelations 12:9 where Satan was cast to the earth. The tiger is symbolic of the wild beast that comes out of the sea, as mentioned in Revelations 13:1.

The album cover depicts Satan whipping a priest with a chain, with the priest shackled and drowning in a turbulent sea. Predictably, this caused some controversy.

I may take a whack at doing a more faithful version of the cover using the original artwork, although I have no means of translating the back text so it'll probably be the same as the Dio version.

That reminds me of Metal Jesus Rocks episode where they talk about the game and he starts singing Holy Diver.

Here's the more authentic version of the cover as promised, and a label design. I think I prefer the aesthetics of the Dio version but this should get the job done for people who want it to look more like the original Japanese release.
