I just now found out that AVGN is doing another Christmas series like he did last year, but instead of reviewing a different game each day, he is talking about bad video game art.  I'm really liking these and they are super short so it doesn't take very long to get caught back up.

I used to enjoy his show a few years back, but stopped watching when that annoying sidekick Mike started featuring in the shows. The nerd episodes were usually funny though. A little too much scat humor, but still funny.

Mike is annoying. I enjoy AVGN. However, I have issues with James. As a gamer, I enjoy every system and I collect them all. James can't help but plug Nintendo at every opportunity. Even if he's enjoying a game on a non-nintendo system, he'll still find time to compare it to a Nintendo game that he thinks is better.

Well, he was the Angry Nintendo Nerd  for a while before the AVGN name became standard. Most of the systems were Mikes in the beginning of the series.

I'm aware of the history of the AVGN. During James & Mike Mondays, sometimes they'll play darn good games but James will be like, yeah it's good but I like Donkey Kong Country better or Mario or Star Fox or Super Nintendo more. To me, it just get annoying. However, I still watch their shows.

I still sort of wished he had retired the Nerd character after his movie.  I think it would have made a nice finale.  I still enjoy watching his work, but I would prefer seeing him doing reviews as himself rather than as the Nerd character.  I also wouldn't mind seeing more traditional reviews of good games.  The James and Mike Mondays are sort of what I'm talking about.  He doesn't use his Nerd character there, and they often play good games that they want to play.  However, I'm not a super big fan of "let's plays" and that's basically what James and Mike Mondays is.  I prefer shorter traditional reviews. 

With that said, these "bad game art" reviews are pretty entertaining and the Nerd character is pretty toned down.
