Modding Universal Game Case for NES Carts

I am curious what Dremel bit everyone uses for removing the plastic tabs in their Universal Game Case to fit NES carts. I did mine with the cut off wheel however it was not very precise nor clean.

Do you have a picture of a modified case? If it is cleaner looking when you melt rather than melt/cut as the Dremel does I would switch.

I'll take a picture when I have time tomorrow. It does look ok but not perfect(I suppose it can't be perfect )....

2 questions:

1.  Do the games fit snug or still kind of loose?
2.  How long does it take (roughly) to modify a UGC in this way?

They fit pretty good because if you always melt the plastic at the same points they always fit snuggly... It is a rather lucky coincidence that they fit so good...

Time is maybe the only part which is a little factor you should consider.... You know a soldering iron goes through the plastic like a knife through butter BUT it is a process were you need patience or otherwise you could damage the case on the outside or else... I think around 10-15 Minutes per case if you are cautious...

If only these UGC were a little thinner, maybe just enough to fit the game, almost lke a dvd case that way one could fit more on a shelf!! If i had the money i would invest in a game case specifically for NES replacement!

If they were thinner NES carts would not fit too good.... You know thoase NES carts are not sooo small.... The'd never fit in a DVD case....

Yeah i know but the UGC seem like they have room to spare, it just seems like its a waste of valuable shelf space

Is this how everyone is using the NES Box art? By modifying these UGC cases to fit nes carts?  Is there a case out that there just holds NES carts and has a sleeve that will fit the art?

I've used both methods to modify the cases and I don't like either of them.  Soldering means I'm melting plastic (cancer fumes) and with the dremel bit little bits of hot plastic end up flying everywhere, plus the bit needs to be cleaned every case.

I've done about 6 cases so far and am not motivated to do anymore...

 I have a small toothed wheel for cutting soft materials I use.  Looks like a small Thick saw blade

I've been using some horizontal shears (think glorified fingernail clippers) from the hardware store.
It doesn't leave a clean line, like a dremel or soldering iron... but it takes a lot less time!
