Title: N64 Vertical Cover Request Thread - NTSC - PAL *UP TO DATE 08/09/11*
Post by: Craig Goins on August 04, 2010, 05:51:02 PM
Up To Date As Of: August 9th, 2011

I'm trying to make a list of wanted Vertical N64 Covers, so if you want to see a certain cover changed to a vertical style please post your request here so I can add it to the list, even if the cover is already in the list. This gives me a good idea on which covers are most wanted in the community. Along with your requests, please post what region you are requesting it for [NTSC] or [PAL]. When a request is fulfilled I'll post the cover here in this thread, along with the artist's name and origin of the image.

Example of a Vertical [NTSC] N64 Cover:

Example of a Vertical [PAL] N64 Cover:

All of these covers that have been requested in the list below, exist on this site, just not in Vertical format yet. N64 cover section (http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cat_id=4).

The artists who try and fulfill these requests are over at the "N64 Vertical Cover Thread" (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=2343.0).

Here are some N64 requests I've found that people would like to be changed into a Vertical Format:

Teal = Popular Series/Likely Wanted/Requested By Multiple People
Red = Rare N64 Games
Orange = Started, But Never Finished
Purple = Existing Vertical Covers, Waiting On Server Update
[NTSC] = If a cover has been requested for NTSC, [NTSC] will be on the left of the game's title.
[PAL]= If a cover has been requested for PAL, [PAL] will be on the right of the game's title.

There are actually roughly 3-4 of us who make vertical n64 covers. I'm pretty sure a couple of your requests have already been filled and are waiting for the site's server issues to be taken care of so they can be uploaded.

Most of the games you're requesting are pretty popular titles, so I'm sure that they'll get filled. I'm actually kind of surprised nobody's done the Banjo series yet.

Thanks for the input, I was pretty surprised too. I downloaded all the other vertical n64 covers that I could though. In a few days I'll keep checking back to see which covers have been uploaded with the server update, I'll then cross them off this list.

I need a better quality version of most covers before I will attempt to do anything with them, that's my OCD though.  I have a strat guide for Banjo that would work nicely as a vert cover

The only person I've seen do this is shenske, but I haven't been able to get a hold of him.

I haven't received any PMs from you, how were you planning on "getting a hold of me"?  Its a slowgoing process converting the N64 covers, i have less and less time each day so it will take some time.  If you were curious what covers i plan to convert first you can look at the games i have for the n64 on my backloggery profile in my signature.

I think I emailed you once, but that was before I had an account, so I don't blame you or anything. I didn't mean to sound negative, so if I came off that way I apologize. I'll check out that list, thanks for letting me know about it! =)

I've been checking these past few days, no N64 covers have been added from the update as of yet. If you guys need something that is keeping you from making a cover, like a raw scan, just ask and I'll try and get it.

I would love any scan of practically all N64 games of the WHOLE box.  In specifics though, I really really really really really really really really really need the four spines (green spine + logo / blue spine + logo / yellow flap / red flap)  I am trying to make N64 minicases and if you can scan any of your boxes to contribute with those flaps, it would be completely amazing

I personally don't have any boxes, sorry for the miscommunication. This list is for Vertical N64 covers that have yet to be made, that I need. I was saying if anybody needed raw scans of the games listed, I could probably get them one to make the Vertical Cover with. They are all on the site, yes, but if anybody needs me to personally give them a certain cover, then I'm willing to.

There won't be any updates for a good while, at least until the server issues are taken care of. Just keep an eye on the n64 vertical covers thread here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=2343.msg37647;topicseen#new

Alright, this list is officially up to date as of this moment. I just finished going through every page and looking for every request over at the N64 Vertical Cover Thread (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=2343.msg37663#msg37663).

You should add BattleTanx to the list  ;) and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron doesn't have an official US Vertical cover yet either

I'm liking this thread. The N64 vertical cases look absolutely wonderful lined up on a shelf. I find myself buying N64 games I never had when there are new covers up!

Sorry posted this accidentally yesterday to the other N64 topic.

Thanks to nipe and irvgotti452, I was on such good mood that I moved my fat ass scanned the only  actually I just remembered that have 1 other PAL N64 box (Aidyn 'I think it was called) somewhere that I will scan when I find it.

Anyway here is PAL Shadowgate 64 with all the flaps, I think they are the same as in US version:
http://www.mediafire.com/?kns171xm636wblp

Would be nice if someone made this/these in to black Euro cases, same type as Conker.

I know there's a lot of people out there that have requests for PAL type Vertical Covers, maybe I can add an extension to the beginning of the game's title that indicates if it's requested for NTSC, PAL, or both.

Alright, I tagged those for PAL and added a "General Request" section at the bottom of the list. So, if somebody does make a cover they should also make a PAL version, but I'm still going to use the PAL tag in case somebody misses it.

As for the Ocarina of Time request, that sounds like a great idea but that's a pretty custom request. Do you think you could ask the artist who did "Shadowgate 64" if he can fulfill that for you?

These are what I would like to have:

[PAL] ClayFighter 63 1/3
[PAL] Banjo Kazooie
[PAL] Banjo Tooie
[PAL] Blast Corps
[PAL] Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
[PAL] Duke Nukem 64
[PAL] Extreme G
[PAL] F-Zero X
[PAL] Mortal Kombat 4
[PAL] Mortal Kombat Trilogy
[PAL] Perfect Dark
[PAL] Quake II
[PAL] Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
[PAL] Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
[PAL] Turok 2: Seeds of Evil [Found on Pg #15 N64 Vertical Cover Thread]
[PAL] Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion
[PAL] Turok: Rage Wars[Found on Pg #13 N64 Vertical Cover Thread]
[PAL] Wave Race 64
[PAL] Yoshi's Story

[PAL] Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, that looks more like this:

I have the front to Megaman 64, Banjo Kazooie, and uhh... A....r...m...o...r...i..n..e..s (yeah, thats the other)

If someone would like the pictures to superimpose into the template, ill be glad to share.  However, it would be very much appreciated if you posted a PAL version with them also.  As I am not a PAL type of person, I do convert my NTSC N64 covers into black spines.  The PAL cases (atleast the spine) makes this switch extremely easy

I think we have all of the raw covers, we just need them converted into a vertical form. But I'm going to add the PAL tag next to Megaman and Armorines so when somebody finally gets around to it, they'll make them both.

I thank the uploaders for hosting the horizontal covers, but I have gone over this with admins about a month ago where having the covers then do not meet quality standards now

Id imagine alot of the N64 covers were made when quality control wasnt as strict. Obviously now these would be rejected. But back then they were probably very acceptable. Just something to think about...

I dont exactly want a pixelated cover, but hey i'll just keep these.  I know that all of the covers are hosted on TCP... I've been working ~6 hours a day and putting time into these.  I suck at back info's.  But hey, if all of the covers just need flipped, be my guest.  I have worked hard on my covers to have them compared to raws

I'm making N64 and SNES minicases (Shenske's idea).  I am completely remaking the covers and I have the front of Megaman 64, Banjo Kazooie, and Armorines done with about 10-30 layers on each

@ShoothimNow: That's a neat idea with the mini boxes it definitely has that wow factor to it. If I wasn't too lazy I would try and do something like that. But it seems like over time, you may have to replace the boxes. It's only natural for cardboard to get bent and creased and messed up over time though. That's why I'm more of a fan of the plastic cases, they seem more durable. But yea, I like that idea of the mini boxes, it would be sweet to see them when their finished.

Wondering if anyone is working on or has finished any of the covers on the list and just waiting to be added to the site :P my collection is all covered except 6 N64 games that are waiting on vertical covers (I don't really like the horizontals and would like them all to match in style anyway) [Banjo Kazooie, Battletanx, Kirby 64, Mario Tennis, Pokemon Snap, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron].

I'm trying to get my new computer set up in at least a temporary location so maybe I can take a crack at some myself, but that might not happen for a while.

I'll add it to the list and I'll go over to the request thread and ask if they can start trying to get these vertical covers made.  :D
By the way, did you want WWF Attitude in NTSC or PAL? NTSC is the United States, PAL is Europe.

Alright guys, this thread is up to date and back in business. All of the games in the list still need vertical covers made. I went through every single one and browsed the N64 cover section, some of them did get a cover made, but the majority were still untouched. So again, every title you see in this list needs a Vertical cover made for it. If you can help out, everybody would appreciate it. I will be continually updating the list and trying to get artists to fufill everybody's requests. If you have a request, just post it here and it'll be added. Thanks!

not all of those on the list still need to be made. a lot of covers that have been made are on the forums rather than in the database itself since they took the upload feature down.

from the list, i've made covers for these:

[NTSC] Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
[NTSC] Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2
[NTSC] ClayFighter 63 1/3 [PAL]
[NTSC] Extreme G2
[NTSC] Star Wars: Episode I Racer

not all of those on the list still need to be made. a lot of covers that have been made are on the forums rather than in the database itself since they took the upload feature down.

from the list, i've made covers for these:

[NTSC] Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
[NTSC] Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2
[NTSC] ClayFighter 63 1/3 [PAL]
[NTSC] Extreme G2
[NTSC] Star Wars: Episode I Racer
[NTSC] Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Oh, thanks for the update, I was unaware that they took the upload feature away. I remember last time I was here they were having troubles with that. I guess I'll just look for them, thanks again!
I took a look, so you guys are making black NTSC covers now?

Great list! Thanks for updating!
I'd like to add Fifa 99 if possible... There is already a horizontal available.
Thanks!

Hello, I just finished making a Quest 64 vertical cover and am now making a Crusin USA one, but i have a question.  I noticed that most of the 64 game covers on here have green on spine behind the Game Name.

On the original box scans some times it is a different color. Like in the case of Quest 64 it is purple.  Do I need to make this part green so that all games look uniform on the shelf or Do I make it to match the original.

Is the opposite side green?

Anyway make it green for uniformity.

And would Black version of both covers be out of question?
I know the Euro version is Called Holy Magic Century, But If I ever get the US version, matching Black cover for it would be nice

GameFaq has a nice scan,

http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/198386-quest-64/images/box-13559 (http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/198386-quest-64/images/box-13559)

So it should not be a problem

I wish there was a better scan of the NSTC version.   I used the one from here and it looks like there was some warping or glaring on the image.

We already have the Euro cover with Euro name somewhere on the boards, but I'd like Euro Black cover with US name.
Should be easy modification of the red US cover you just did.

And I think you can use the Horizontal cover on our site for good raws:

What mediafire has viruses????????? My scanners check out fine.

I noticed a few things on Cruis'n USA cover that i missed, will fix it tonight.

what was the problem on star wars episode one cover?  (I saw the black cover with watto in the background. I used the player guide image as i liked it a little more. It would not be hard to drop the black cover image in if you wanted me to make that one.)

Also did i make the top part right. I removed the "only for" part as this game was released for different platforms.

Don't know, but the site sometimes gives warning, as does Box.net.

On closer look, nothing major

The part on back that is between Nintendo logo and Made in Japan is unreadable
Front image could be higher quality, blur is OK as it's motion blur but the image is bit grainy.

On the Cruis n USA cover i was using the recycle info below the Nintendo logo , Just because i did not have that info.  So I need to look up the info for Midway and Williams and place that there.  The cover is the box art scanned and darkened ( Maybe I darkened to much) But the motion blurr is what was on the original box.  and I used the wrong red to fill a gap in between the controllers and memory pack.
