Title: PS2 HDD Cover
Post by: ShoothimNow on February 12, 2010, 01:44:57 AM
I have 2 templates that someone can use to create a PS2 HDD cover.  Thing is, that the HDD is thicker than a 'MediaShelf' UGC, but perfectly fits (few minor adjustments) with a black fat case from work.
**NOTE** The Dimensions of this case is wider in size and shorter in height!!!

**What I Am Looking For On The Case / What I Own**
(I Have (2) 80 GB HDD's and (1) 160 GB HDD)

-- Label telling the size (80GB or 160GB) would be awesome
-- SNES Station (can just say "Play Super Nintendo Games")
-- PGEN  (can just say "Play Sega Genesis Games")
-- HDLoader (can talk about loading "OWNED" games on the HDD to reduce wear and tear on the original disc)

That was last year, not to mention the hundreds of more $$ I have spent to get more of a collection.  Boot-leg alert?  Woah, you totally misinterpret me and quite frankly I am not pleased.

"Hey can someone maketh me a R4 cover for my DS?"

And what? That's not bootleg alert?!?!?  Way to make me ask or share anything again here

Don't worry, I'll make one since I need a HDD case anyway. I use it for legit backups for playing import games

that actually is funny, because I am glad you posted back... note the quotations, as I wasn't asking someone to make me an R4 case, but yet this Admin loves to go around and BLATANTLY spam "ALERT - BOOTLEG ALERT" for my legit case???  The hell man??

Again, thank you for posting the link to my sarcastic comment on the R4 case, made me feel that much better that the R4 case is allowed and my junker HDD's are worthless and don't deem enough satisfaction from an Admin for a case.

Yeah because people only have one room in their houses.

See those slim-cased games in the all_ps2.jpg image? You can see them in the floor on messy_room.jpg. The color of the floor in all_ps2.jpg, all_snes,jpg, and all_games_01.jpg match perfectly. It's obvious he took his games out of his main collection room and laid them down in a room with a larger floor. I somehow doubt that he just happened to find a bunch of pictures of various collections that matched up so well.

The accusations here are just asinine. This is by far the worst thread I've ever seen on here. ShootHimNow has every right to be upset at the attitude in here, and honestly I'll be surprised if he EVER visits this place again. Hell I've got a mind to just leave this place myself.

This is just absolutely sickening, seriously, we've honored FAR shadier requests than this before (remember that request for cases for burned DVDs with emulators/roms on them? We just politely told them they wouldn't be hosted on here and then granted his request.) This is just plain rude, and honestly right now I feel a bit embarrassed to even call myself a part of this community.

I don't quite see how pointing to four pictures proves that this isnt shoothimnow's collection?

Being hostile to the Admins here isn't the way to get what you want.

You need to understand that they are VERY leery towards anything that could POSSIBLY be in any way bootlegging.

Try not to take it to heart. If someone does make a cover chances are it won't be hosted here.
Title: Re: PS2 HDD Cover
Post by: ShoothimNow on February 13, 2010, 12:10:45 PM
I'm not looking for it to be hosted here, because no one has these case, unless they bought UGC's from another site from Media shelves.  They would print it out and it would be too wide and too short.

Being hostile to the Admins here isn't the way to get what you want.

Not one, but 2 now have called me a liar.  One stating there "is no way I can prove who I am and that the pictures are mine"

Man, things sure did get heated here in a hurry.

The only real problems I see with this request is that we don't know exactly what kind of case would fit the hard-drive. If there were a place they could be ordered, I wouldn't really see a problem.

As for how to case the hard-drive, I'd say case it as if it were the hard-drive that came with the Final Fantasy XI bundle. That's how I'd do it anyway.

And yeah, it's not like this is all that different from many other requests. I know I've seen things of this nature here before - they just were hosted off site.

Being hostile to the Admins here isn't the way to get what you want.

Admins being needlessly hostile to members isn't exactly the sign of a good community. I'd say his own hostility is MORE than justified. You certainly didn't see this attitude in the thread a while back that was asking for covers for a burned DVD filled with roms.

...what?

Nobody gives a crap if this is a pirate or not. Even if he is, what on earth does making cover art for a HARD DRIVE have to do with it? What's he supposedly making a bootleg of?

Why do we even CARE? What we do has nothing to do with piracy at all, ARTWORK DOES NOT ENABLE PIRACY, ARTWORK HAS NOTHING TO DO PIRACY, reapeat after me ARTWORK DOES NOT ENABLE PIRACY, ARTWORK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PIRACY, and again ARTWORK DOES NOT ENABLE PIRACY, ARTWORK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PIRACY.

And lastly, one more time:

ARTWORK DOES NOT ENABLE PIRACY, ARTWORK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PIRACY

Seriously, this type of completely needless and unwarranted persecution of other members has to stop.

TIME TO PLAY REFEREE
I should have played a little closer attention to this topic as of late.  Things are getting a more than a little heated in this topic so i'm going to attempt to sort things through.

@ShoothimNow
You have a very nice collection of games and personally i really like your NESarcade machine.  Its a great idea to be able to run your own copies of the games in your collection while still having th arcade feel to it.
We do appreciate you making a mock-up of the template deminsions and rough size that you would like to have your cover made. That saves a lot of time in the cover making process and will speed up your request being filled.
I do beleive you that you are legitimately trying to play your games.
The problem is we here at TheCoverProject are weary that one of the Big game companies are in the belief that we are supplying covers or ways to bootleg games.  To ensure that we won't get shut down we (admins) decided to no longer host any sort of unofficial covers for games that were not licensed. The R4 cover on the site was added many years ago and under the current standards should not be on the site. Problem is it is VERY difficult to remove covers once they are already on the site (only snowcone can do this).  Specifying certain games in a emulator is probably not  agood idea though.
Some one is still welcome to make a cover for you and give you a link to it but we just cant host it (which you seem fine with).

@pneboy
I understand that you are trying to protect the site from pirates but i request that you stop digging into to this one and just let it go.  Members should not have to go through a proving process at every request so this one should be no different.

@AppleQueso
The artwork my not promote piracy but the artwork is owned by the respective game companies so we just have to bae as careful as possible to not have anyone misinterpret any uses of the art as promoting piracy.

I've said before that I feel the site's stance on this is a bit overly-paranoid, but I can understand it from that angle. Unfortunately it seems that certain individuals here seem to take a very personal approach to it. That's what I'm frustrated with.

I feel that we don't need smart-alecky posts such as Vt102's essentially accusing people of being bootleggers/pirates. It does nothing at all good for this site. A simple, polite, "keep in mind it would be against our policy to host this", would be far more professional and courteous. (in fact, I think you guys should make a sticky in the request forum about it so we can quit going over it in every single "unauthorized" request thread).

Thank you shenske for responding, but I don't give a damn if its hosted on the site... as I don't want it to be... an email with a Jpeg / Imagehost / whatever is fine, as basically 40% of this site is already like that.  I understand that you don't want to host it... It's not even the CORRECT size for a UGC box, previously stated numerous times before.  Hosting it with an incorrect size will have people complaining about awkward prints, so...

I just thought it would be nice to 'request' a simple 'request' in the 'request' folder.

How is this request any different than the "PS2 HD Extreme and others  (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=3141.msg29839#msg29839) request...  If you dont want it to run an SNES emulator (for any reason), THEN DON'T PUT IT ON THE COVER WHEN YOU MAKE IT

The only one that seems to understand me is AppleQueso, which I really really REALLY wish to thank because he is backing me up.  I don't give a 'hoot' if you pirate games, GOOD FOR YOU, I'm not looking for a case that ENCOURAGES THAT.  All I asked, as you can ****ing see is a cover for a GD HDD.  I added a picture for any confusion, but yet, an admin wished to pursue a lil' annoyance.

Read the ABOUT ME section, read all of it. Then look at this:
http://math.mercyhurst.edu/~cshaffer/hobbies/outrageous/

You seriously, SERIOUSLY believe that somebody would go so far out of his way to steal pictures off of the internet, upload them to HIS site, then go through cataloging every single game in each image (and pointing out his favorites to boot), all to do what? Make you think he's not a pirate so you'll make some COVER ART for him?

There's no reason to act the way you are towards him, especially calling the guy an idiot for not logging into his youtube account. He shouldn't have to, he's already done far more than enough to prove who he is, especially considering he shouldn't have had to do anything at all.

I think you owe this guy a HUGE apology for your attitude.

I know things get tense when there is talk of piracy, etc, but to me it's clear that's not what is going on here.
