What's the process to replace old covers? I have a couple Genesis covers I've been sitting on for a while to replace some older ones.

For now just upload and approve them.

I'm happy to report that our uploading process is now live again. I've updated the navigation for the new page. A few caveats:

  • JPG Only - At the moment I"m not properly handling conversion of PNG. If you upload one, it will not be approved
  • New Games - I haven't updated the form to allow users to submit new game names. If you need a game added to the site, please post in the request form

Happy uploading!

I can't find the request form and this game is not available on this site.

I am getting an error when uploading "Slim Application Error Message: You did not select a file." I've tried on Chrome and Edge but no luck, are their any issues going on with the uploads right now? I tried to start a separate forum for this question but got an error saying the upload box was full.

Thank you.

That front cover is... so.... horizontally squished?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I had a question about the upload criteria…

What's the stance on GBA templates? Is there a preference? From what I can tell there's two in use: the 'old' one (with the smaller bar on the front); and the 'newer' one by Larryinc64, with the wider bar (meant to better approximate retail proportions). Both are used on the forums, but the ones on the site proper are mostly in the 'old' style— and the ones in the 'new' style are designed for the thinner 3DS cases. I made a bunch of custom GBA covers (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=28728.0) that I'd love to upload, but they're new-style covers but formatted for DS-sized cases, which is not something I've seen on the site… is this still allowed?

@Conn

As far as I know, it was never really discussed (or agreed upon) what any cover has to look like in order to be added to the main site.

"Covers have to be perfect" was the only "criteria" ever communicated. Beyond that, each user and each admin were left alone to figure out what "perfect" is supposed to mean (and whether this makes any sense to begin with). Which has led to many discussions with confused users and defensive admins... ;)

So there is no real answer to your question, I am afraid.

Both are used on the forums, but the ones on the site proper are mostly in the 'old' style— and the ones in the 'new' style are designed for the thinner 3DS cases.

I don't think this observation is accurate.
The content of gameboy covers on here usually has nothing to do with the case size. If there are more covers in the "old style" for regular DS cases, the reason is more likely that they were created before the 3DS came out... ;)

So choose whatever case size you like. Some users even provide their covers in different case sizes (here for example (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=11846.msg220317#msg220317)).

I think your covers are fine the way they are, by the way.

By "style", he isn't referring to case size, but the size of the templates, aka the size of the Game Boy banners on the covers:

Style 1: (old style) more stretched. Mostly used on DS cases.

Style 2: (new style) larger banners to make the proportions closer match the retail boxes. Mostly used on 3DS cases.

These are the same observations I've had as well. However, it doesn't really matter which template you use. Nor if you use a template. Using a template usually does make a cleaner cover, however. Personally, I now prefer the larger banner template (with the vertical bar on the back cover) in DS cases.

Yeah. And my observation was that while the new style seems to be the standard for covers designed for 3DS cases, when it comes to covers (even new covers) made for DS cases, some users prefer the old style and some the new style, with no clear winner. I was just wondering if TCP had an stance on which is 'preferred' for hosting, but it seems not! So I'll get around to uploading my stuff sooner than later. :)

"Covers have to be perfect" was the only "criteria" ever communicated.

I feel like the super-strict quality control and mod queue is what led to the main site being useless in the first place. What if it worked more like Yelp? Trusted uploaders go straight to the gallery. New uploaders go in a "not from trusted users" area but you can still download them. If they're good users can thumbs-up, if they're bad users can thumbs-down or report.

I'm still awaiting people to find the hidden phalluses  ;)  Since you know, nothing is being looked at in detail anymore

Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn't available in the game list for Nintendo Switch.

Also, case sizes don't show Switch Case -- Have a few switch games I want to upload.

Thanks!

I was going to add that title, but someone beat me to it. Thank you, leeor_net.

The site administrator, Snowcone, will need to add "Nintendo Switch Case" as an option under "Case Type". The cover administrators can't add a new case type. I tried and I couldn't do it.

Sounds good!

I guess I'll just upload for now as a slimline case? That's the closest there is to it...

EDIT:

Also Nintendo Switch: Doom 2016 is not available in the list. Have a cover for that I'd like to upload.
