Title: July Pick ups. What cool stuff have you been buying?
Post by: RealPlumpBox on July 02, 2019, 03:18:44 PM
Games.

The slip cover on Bloodstain is just awful.  SO flimsy and cheap, it fell like a foot on carpet and ripped.  it doesnt even firt the case properly as its just slightly to large.

I thought the Bloodstained slip case was pretty crappy too.  Fortunately, the game has been pretty fun, which is most important.

The price isn't the problem.  People keep complaining about the price, but that's not how Kickstarters work.  There is no guarantee that the final product will be the same price, or that the final product will even happen.  All Kickstarters are a risk.  Besides, you can't compare the price to retail since backers received additional content.

This!  You are funding the creation of the game, not just buying a retail copy.  Backers also got Curse of the Moon for free not to mention the upcoming DLC for free while it will be paid DLC for non-backers.  I bought in at the $100 level and have no regrets on that price since it's a quality game that I helped get made (and my names in the credits).

We do a lot of work with MegaCat Studios. He sent over a huge stack of games to help get me inspired for upcoming projects.

I know PCEworks isn’t loved by all, but I really dig his stuff. We’ve had an ongoing trade for a long time now, and these are the latest arrivals. Plus R-Type from Strictly Limited and Torn from amazon.

I ordered a stack of console box protectors.  I have used these for special games/deluxe editions in the past (amiibo, Windwaker HD Ganon box, Majora's Mask Skull Kid figure, etc) and they have always impressed me.  I decided to finally order them for consoles.  I recently won a near mint in box original NES with a beautiful box and didn't want it to get all banged up.

The site I used offers better value with the more you buy (since it saves on the shiiping).  Sadly, not all console box sizes are available, so I wasn't able to case up everything.  I ended up ordering a set of 10 box protectors (the best value) and opted for the NES, SNES, N64, Funtastic N64, PS1, Gamecube, Sega Genesis, Wii, Wii U, ...and the Switch  ::)  because it was the only other box I had which has a case available. They add a small bit of size, but overall I am really happy with the protection.  These aren't bulletproof by any means, but they are surprisingly thick and heavy.

That sucks :/  I can't believe how much the price shot up in the last couple years.  This one has some light scratches but should be fine.  It was CIB and pretty cheap.

Edited for oops:
Had a friend borrow Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and he passed away while he was borrowing it. Never had the heart to ask his wife for the game back.

Looks like this got stuck between quotes above, but that sucks! Not so much your game, but sorry to hear about your friend! Who would ever expect that to happen when lending a game out? At this point, you can consider it a gift. Not really the same thing, but my mom was the biggest Beatles fan. A remastered Beatles album, Let it Be- Naked, was about to be released just before she died of pnemonia unexpectedly. I went ahead and bought it after she passed and had her buried with it.

Back when Amazon decided to drop their 20% discount on pre-orders, I pre-ordered a bunch of stuff.  This was the last game on the list, and nearly a year later they still honored the 20% discount.

I also have a channel devoted to the Super Mario Bros. Super Show Zelda cartoon.

Proof that good deals still exist...although they are definitely few and far between these days.

Saw this posted for a whopping $10.  I was able to grab it within minutes of its posting, otherwise somebody else would be posting on a forum about it.

A few decent TG-16 games traded in at Retro Games Plus.  Paid $93 for the 3 - not an amazing deal by any means but all are in very good condition (the Raiden manual is nearly flawless), and the cases are excellent with sleeves included.  I'm especially fond of the TG-16 port of Raiden.  I owned it back when I was a kid, and I think it's the best non-CD home version (Raiden Project for PS1 is arcade perfect).

Also found Area 51, Road Rash CIB & Shadow Dancer CIB - paid $60 total for the 3.

(picture of Bust-A-Grove 2, the dancing game for PS1)

Two things: #1 (and this one goes for redsox as well)- It's no longer July.

#2- Great deal! Speaking of Bust-A-Groove (kinda), we got that name in the US because the Japanese name, Bust-A-Move, was the name given to the American versions of Puzzle Bobble, the Bubble Bobble puzzle spinoffs.

My question is this- Does anyone know why the name Bust-A-Move was abandoned for the American Arcade Archives releases? The dinosaur puzzle game will ALWAYS be Bust-A-Move to me. I'll never call it Puzzle Bobble.

I imagine that it’s for similar reasons to almost all of the rerelease stuff from Japan. I.e. everyone who’s interested in those games is surely familiar with the original, Japanese names, and in most instances I think we tend to prefer the original names. That’s my best guess/assumption.
