Hey all,
I've decided to start importing some PS1 games from the US to Australia for collection purposes (as well as being able to play in 60HZ). What's your experience with pricing games on pricecharting.com? Are the prices listed what people would be willing to pay?
I'm just not wanting to rip myself off.
Thanks!

it claims to gather data from completed sales only on ebay and listed sales on Amazon, and gamestop.
Without actually looking at the source code of the algorithm, you can either take their word for it or not.

Whether it's accurate or not, a lot of people use it to price their stuff so you'll probably see whatever you want to buy at that price or higher. I rarely see stuff online for less than what pricecharting has it listed for.

I hadn't realised it included Amazon as well, that's pretty neat. I assumed quite a few people relied on it but wasn't sure what it's like in the "wild" and on gumtree/craigslist style listings over the the US.

Ah right, that's perfect then. I figure that it's a better site to use as a base line as previously I was referencing LukieGames, which seems to be decent but obviously they've got profit to make.

To be upfront, I haven't been on Lukiegames in, like, 2 years. But they were SO over priced. Hopefully they've gotten better. They were selling Mario 3 for like $25. So if you go by them, then anything you find in the wild will likely be cheaper.
Pricecharting is great if you have no clue what something goes for. The ap is helpful if you come across a title and really have no real reference whether the store price is good or not. From my own experiences, the price is on the money give or take a few dollars. There's one place by me that uses that ap to price their games at trade in.
It's also good to keep in mind that prices fluctuate all the time. Depending how long something sits on a shelf, it could be way lower (or higher) than a current online going rate.
I was in a store the other day and saw .Hack GU Rebirth for $45 CIB. It's in a VERY crowded and clustered PS2 section. PC has it going for about $20ish. However I frequent this store a lot and know that it has been on that shelf for a long time. Back in 2017/2018ish, it DID go for a hefty amount. But since it's re-release on PS4, price has dropped. So unless a store updates pricing regularly, stuff is priced the day it goes on the shelf.
