Is that one for a 3DS case? I know I usually see the part on the left, and I was actually looking for this one for a DS case as well. Thanks.
-
The Gameboy box has a different dimension than the DS cart. Best bet is to print it and wish for the best.

The cover fits regular NTSC Nintendo DS cases. (Or CostomGameCases, they have the same size.)
If you want to put it into a 3DS case, you just have to make the spine a bit smaller.

What I think he was saying, was "Are you sure that's not for a 3DS case? The covers for 3DS cases usually have that Game Boy banner on the back. I wanted the cover for a regular DS case."

Thank you ;D

So I'm going to go ahead and quote myself here, if this is made for a DS case, why does it have the 3DS style vertical banner on the back:

I see what you mean. :)
The extra banner on the backside was introduced to keep the original aspect ratio, so you won't have to stretch the image. (Just like the width of the banner on the front is increased for the same reason.)
As far as I know, it has nothing to do with the case size or it being a "3DS style". rockabilly1983 (who made the covers visible in your picture) always provides a version with and one withouth the backside banner for both case sizes, so 4 covers in total (see here (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=11846.msg211509#msg211509) for example).
I cannot say, why TCP only hosts 2 of them - the DS size cover without the banner and the 3DS size with the banner. My guess would be to save space?
-
Oh, OK. I just assumed it had something to do with the spine size or something. And to complicate matters, as you said, only one type per case size seems to be hosted. And I guess I meant "case" more than "style". Thanks for the help!

I'll just quote myself

1) Add the bar
(https://i.postimg.cc/02CXQD7P/1.jpg)
2) Stretch it
(https://i.postimg.cc/t4CSVJzP/2.jpg)
3) Zoom it
(https://i.postimg.cc/XYH2KW2P/3.jpg)
Bar looks the best. Has nothing to do with whether the "cover" is for the 3D case or not
-
No need to zoom if it doesn't look *too* weird stretched out when its printed.

Depends. We really try to stay away from producing / sharing anything that is stretched as it's more or less a waste of time on TheCoverProject. The longer lasting members are quality snobs and stretching is a huge no-no. (This is regarding the incredible cover above)
On the other hand, if you have covers like Marioxb mentioned, the background is a solid color. You don't need to stretch the image, you can easily move things wherever you want, at whatever size you want to get rid of the back bar.
