Ah so I'm finally getting to casing all my loose games and dvd's. Problem is, a lot of the cases I need are only in increments of 5 to 15 cases (other than the dvd cases, which is QUITE a lot)
So, here's my list as of now:
About 65 plain black dvd cases (for PS1/PS2/PC/Stray DVD's)
13 DS Cases
11 UGC's
2 Green DVD Cases (Xbox)
5 GCN Cases (w/memory card holder)
6 PS2 Cases (w/ memory card holder)
2 UMD/PSP Cases
I know I can probably get the dvd cases in a pack of about 100 for a decent price, but does anyone know any places that sell the rest of these types of cases in sets as small as 10-20? I've heard I can get the UGC's at Play n' Trade, anyone else got ideas? If online, please make sure they ship to the US.
If anyone's interested about my little project, read on. I feel like typing this out somewhere for a self-reminder, but I decided I'll share it with you guys as well. (also partially the reason I posted the quantities of cases I need) So, basically, I'm recasing all my PS1 games into DVD cases, mostly for the fact that it's gonna be easier to get covers for the caseless games I find, while keeping uniform with the rest of my collection. Plus, I can blend in all the series across the PS platforms. The reason I need cases with memory card holders is, well, to hold memory cards. :P A while back someone had come up with an idea for stashing PS2 memory cards in DVD cases, and I decided why not do it on every platform?
The next problem is finding a place to put all these cases. My games are dispersed throughout my room as is, so my dad and I decided we're going to build a huge shelf to hold it all. This thing is gonna be like ten feet across vertically, on the account of my room is on the top floor and has slanted ceilings.
So, hopefully by the time all this is set up, we'll finally get the second computer fixed so I can put it in my room and set it up with the brand new HP c4580 so I can print out sexy covers with that 'dream paper' lordpenguin's been talking about.
Whatddya guys think? I can't wait for summer to come (luckily in only 6 weeks) so I can do this. I'll definitely post pictures when it's all done, that way my somewhat large game collection can be a bit more to be proud of :D

Definately post the photos. I love seeing what other people's game rooms look like. If I had a game room... I would do the same thing.

Ebay is your friend. PSP, PS2 and Xbox cases are easy to find in small quantities on ebay. GCN and DS cases can be bought from the Official Nintendo Online Store (http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?currency=USD&storeId=10001&tranId=0&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&ddkey=http:SetCurrencyPreference) in packs of 1, 5, or 10. ;)

There may be better deals too, but i just looked really quick.

Man, I hope so. $10 for 4 PS2 cases, and they don't combine shipping? Jeez Louis.
Anytime I need cases, I just go to Blockbuster. Eventually, you'll get some cases.
-
the 13 DS cases should be an easy purchase from the nintendo store.
DVD cases are easy enough to get.....I personally just got rid of over 200 of them.....(changed my DVDs to Slim packs)
-
oh yeah, I forgot about the nintendo store. Last time I tried to buy cases it was with an American Express giftcard, the ONLY cord they didn't seem to accept. But thankfully that's not the only card I have acess to.
BRE Software, gotta remember that. If I don't get the cases during this bid I bet they're bound to have more eventually. Even if the PS2 cases are a tad expensive, it's a lot better than buying 5 crappy sports games I'm just going to throw out. Actually, that plan wouldn't work well for me, I'd end up keeping them :P
-
oh duh, I can just swap out 5 PS2 cases I already have for DVD cases. Seeing as I'm probably gonna get the DVD cases in a pack of 100, I'll have quite a few left over. Casing those four disk FF games is gonna be interesting though.
Ok cool, I can find DVD cases in bulk for cheap probably, I have PS2 cases, the Nintendo store sells DS and GCN cases, Maybe I can get a few green cases off eBay, and the Play n' Trade by me hopefully has some UGC's. Thanks guys.
-
You can pick up a small 5-10 pack of quad DVD cases for the multi-disc FF games. You lose the slot for the manual, but it lets you keep the whole game in a nice compact package.
-
for ps2 cases with the memory card holders in them check your local gamestop/ebgames bargin bin find the cheapest games you can with decent cases if possible like old sports titles after they are a fea years old they usualy go for a couple bucks a piece but least you wont have to buy bulk you dont need
edit- whoops didnt see you post a few lines back lol still an option if you only need a few to round out numbers
-
pick up some old sports games. basically you're getting a case for 99 cents at gamestop which happens to come with nhl 2003.
-
oooh we might start building the giant shelf sooner than I thought. Just gotta finish painting the room for the washing machine and then after installing it we can get to planning. Guess I'll go with the assumption that I'm accommodating for 180 plus dvd and ds cases, plus the 180 I'll probably buy in the next few years :P
-
the ONLY bad thing about the cheap as all hell sports games at Gamestop...That Damn Hologram sticker!
I don't know what they use for adhesive, but you can't get them up without mangling the case.
Careful with BRE, they have a lot of good crap, but unless you buy somewhat in bulk, the shipping might kill ya.

oooh how I hate that thing. There was a similar sticker on my copy of MGS3: Subsistance. The case still sticks to whatever it's stacked on top of. And it wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the act that it was the only 2 disc PS2 case I owned :/

Try some Goo Gone on it -- I swear by that stuff. Just recently used some to remove a sticker from my copy of Conan ("Free Conan Lenticular Inside!"...like that's going to be the selling point of the game ::)), worked like a charm to get rid of both the sticker and the residue.
-
goo gone IS magic. It feels more like an oil than a chemical that breaks down paint, markers, and sticky residue.
They have a Citrus scented Goo Gone too, though I'm not sure if the citrus stuff gets ink out.
-
citrus scented? it should all be citrus scented I would think, the active ingredient in it is orange oil.
-
ooh that could be useful, I'll keep an eye out for it. Could I even use a bit of orange?
Too bad paper isn't as simple with getting sticky crap off. Daaamned gamestop and its habit of putting stickers on sleeves.
Here's a few 'before' pictures if anyone's interested:

Well crap, the guy at my local Play N' Trade said they didn't sell any UGC's, but I at least got to see a few in person because they were using them for display boxes. I could either go to the Play N' Trade another town over, wait till someone else is at the counter (cuz that guy wasn't the brightest XD), or find a way to buy around 10 cases somewhere else. During the summer I'll actually be working (with a guaranteed job :D ) so I can fill my paypal account if anyone accumulates a few extras.
By the way, any comments on the room currently? lol that is if anyone can even read my crappy tablet handwriting. :P
