Well i knew the time was fast approaching, but it seems it's finally here. I'm out of shelf space, and having piles stacked up on the desk and around the room is even starting to annoy me, so am considering moving to slim DVD cases.
Grum - i know you have started this project too - do you (or anyone else) have any pics of how it looks? Don't want to order a load of cases and decide it's really not what i want - if i do go ahead it's gonna be an expensive and painful process - but it might mean i actually get around to scanning in the retails for the site.
Think I will start off small with my GC and Saturn collections - but it's the X-Box and PS1 cases that are gonna kill me. Will probably keep current generation in their original form for now................

i have a similar problem but mines more because of DVD,s than games allthough i have alot of those as well. im currently working on makeing a set of drawers to store all my dvd's/games in something similar to the counters that gamestops uses. but made of real wood lol. that way i can store everything neatly and still have a set of shelves on top to display certain items .

as you can see from my games room thread here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=1607.0 - it would have to be a VERY large set of drawers - would also prefer to keep them displayed.
I also have a similar problem with DVD's but just got some custom book cases made for some of those, so not such a problem right now...........

I really looked at this possible problem a wile ago. When I started collecting Saturn and Sega CD games I considered the space problem. So I've been using 9mm Slim and 7mm Ultra Slim for a long time now.

can you post a photo VT? just want to make sure i like the look before i order them.

Unfortunately I just moved about 3 weeks ago, so I have everything in boxes. But I did post an image a wile back that shows the 9mm cases.

Now this is not everything at this point I had a bunch already boxed.
The 3DO, Saturn and Sega CD cases are on 9mm. I have since move the Sega CD and Saturn to slimmer 7mm cases and use the 9mm for 3DO. I had to do this because 9mm cases are really hard to get now.

thanks - think i'll order 100 7mm ones to start with - which will be almost enough for my gamecube/saturn stuff. just have to put the brakes on buying more games for a while.......(yeah right)

I used to have Saturn and Dreamcast games in slim cases, but turned to full size after realizing how much better they looked, plus it was easy to get DVD cases for free at Blockbuster. At this point, I'm glad I kept the DC games that were already in slims that way; I'm already cutting it really close. Plus, the Blockbuster in this area doesn't give me the cases they throw away, so I just gotta hope I can pick up some when I go back home.
One thing I'm considering is putting an entire collection of games in one case. For example, put Devil May Cry 1-3 in one case, using CD sleeves to keep the games in good condition.

yes they will be a big set of drawers lol 2 sets about 3-4 ft wide with about 5 drawers each and each drawer will be able to hold 2 rows worth of dvd's or rather large dvd cases (such as my band of brothers box set or superman box set) and then on top of the drawers would be regular book shelves so in tota ill have about 14 or 15 rows of space where i used to only get 9 max with a regular bookcase type shelve system. but like you said i wont be able to display everything. but at this point i just dont want to put stuff in the atic or someother storage place other than my Game/dvd walls. ill try and post some pics of all my crap tomorrow.

4th row from the top, If you start from the right it's the 8th disc(s) right next to Galactica and directly underneath Serenity (4 identical slim DVD cases). I got the box set from amazon at 1/2 price
