Title: Nearing the end of crazy project.
Post by: Arseen on November 17, 2013, 12:32:52 PM
@UncleBob

Do you think these would work for you know what  :D:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Nintendo-GBA-SP-Console-2-Player-Link-Cable-Wire-UK-/190557253877?pt=UK_Video_Games_Cables_and_Adaptors&hash=item2c5e18f0f5#ht_886wt_1400

I'm starting to have all other parts I need.
Still need 8 cubes and 8 GB players but those should be easy to find.
Maybe 1 cart to get as well.

Here is a tip with GBPs, I am almost sure they do not require the disc past boot, you can have one disc and share it between systems.

Yep I know, so far I have 8 players but only 3 or 4 discs.

I've tried a couple of off-brand cables and none of them ever worked for this.  Dunno about these.

I'll keep on the lookout for ya. I'm constantly buying GBAs and they very often come with crappy games and accessories. I've received a couple of original link cables this way. I don't need or want any more than I already have, so if more show up at any point I'll put em aside for ya ;)

Found one here (http://www.gameland-groningen.nl/a-29834915/accessoires/originele-gba-game-link-cable-nieuw/)

No clue if the price is right, but it's a genuine one for sure.

Just checked my go-to places and one popped up, so yeah. It's boxed though, probably won't see that very often.

I thought you have to use GBC link cables to link up GB/C games on GBA hardware ???

Normally yes, but for the 16 player set-up you daisy-chain 16 cables by connecting the blue end of the cable to next cable's connection box making full circle and then connecting the gray end to your GB of choise.
If youi use GBA or GB player you don't have to modify the cable.
If ypu use  GB. GBP, GBLor GBC you'll need to modify the cable bit to fit the cably to the extension port.

Hmm... I thought Gameboy (original) and Gameboy Color software normally does not support the GBA Link Cable at all, even on GBA hardware (including the GB Player), so I thought for the 16 player Faceball setup you'd have to chain together some Four Player Adapters (DMG-07), but now I actually googled it a bit and for whatever reason Faceball 2000 supports the GBA cable just fine and actually chaining together Four Player Adapters doesn't work, so... You're on the right path.

Yeah UncleBob is my mentor on this, he has done this atleast partially.
He told me that the four player adapter way is bust and Genuine GBA cables is probably the only way to go (3rd party cables might not work).

Anyway missing now:
- 16 cables
- 8 GameCubes
- 8 Game Boy Players.

Cables I want asap, cubes and players can wait till next year.
