My printer died on me. It did okay for covers but the reds were always a little faint. I was wondering what printers everyone else uses to get good strong colors.

Cheapest Canon printer/scanner so you can scan as well.

Epson are pretty good and you can buy remanufactured ink or refillable ink.

I get much better prints with my cannon ip4600 than i ever did with my epson r800.

I would avoid non-OEM inks. They can actually ruin a printer. I've seen it happen.

All Epsion we have had have broken very fast even with genuine ink.
Canon ones so far never (oldest 8 year old at least).

That depends, you have to alternate the ink, use an original ink, when original ends change to non original,and when non original ends again with original and keep alternating that way, 1 original 1 not original.
I don't use non original ink but using it that way won't damage your printer

I have use non oem ink on my epson nx415 and its been working strong for 3 years now. I know ink quality is not the same as oem but price is unbeateable ,i use a matte photo paper call viastone which i bought a ton at the .99 cents a few years ago 100 sheets $1 . It takes longer to dry than oem ink but i have no problem with that, one thing with using non oem is that if you want to use oem again you need to swap all the ink carts.. I use it mostly for ps2 ,ps1,dreamcast and most disc base games. I have not really started casing on ugc yet , waiting on alternatives...most of my favorite games on disc base system i have original artwork but for the game disc only i used my trusty epson.

Would an Epson 1400 color printer (inkjet) be suitable for my needs (printing out covers for UGC's)? Does anyone who is familiar with Epson printers have an opinion on it? I haven't tried printing it out on one yet but I own one and it is in the process of being fixed
Really? You suggest him to get epson printer that you have not been able even try as yours is already broken. ::)
