I just reported 5+ spammers in 10 minutes. Have the registration been open to the public lately?
-
i think we are reporting the same spamers :P

Read the notice in red at the top of the page.
Personally I prefer if people don't report all the spams. I am almost permanently logged in, as is arisen and a couple of others. The spam notifications actually spam my (and others) email inbox.
-
well damn
-
Don't know if this one is a spamer it has this topic
"Im glad I now registered"
i haven't report him because i don't really know if is one

I was told TO report them. :P I shall now run in circles.

I just banned and deleted, I think he was, the website he linked looked like a spam site.

So, what should we do, report or not report, That is the question :P

Well, arseen and I are in the same time zone, so perhaps we are asleep. 😉
I'm not saying don't report it, that's not my decision to make, I would just prefer it if they didn't. Lol

I've been at work last 8.5 hours.
Prior that that I deleted 4 spammer's posts and banned them.
And I too vote strongly no reporting as I too are logged in almost all the time (current clear leader in time logged in ;D (among 2 other categories)).
So I say don't report anything that is less than day old.
When I'm not at work during day time, average time spammmer survives here is less than 5 minutes, many times mere seconds.

ok

I'm just throwing this out there, but...
I moderate two forums. Reports from both forums go straight to a junk mail folder that gets cleared out... well, whenever. I never, ever go into that folder.
HOWEVER... Whenever I am online, I get little pop-ups saying that someone has reported a post - because I get that e-mail alert. When that happens, I usually swing back by the forums ASAP and delete any active SPAM. So, personally, I favor a quick report of the SPAM, but that's just me.

All the recent spam activity is driving me nuts. Maybe there should be a lock on new membership for the next month.

I know im still newbie status so I dont have much weight vs all the older members on this thread particularly but I agree. Membership grew from around 1000 to 2500 in the past 30 days alone its great more people join but its been the past 30 days that I have noticed the spam. This is the only gaming forum I care to be a part of because I believe/share in the passion of what the project represents so maybe im just getting a bit overly protective. <3 TCP.net

There are mods from around the world (many different timezones) s life time of spammers is short, so members rarely visiting site won't notice the spam.
-
The spam here isn't much worse than any other forum I visit. Check out the Steve Jackson Games forum sometime. :D
With that said, I *hate* the fact that so many users had trouble joining the site for so long and I'm thrilled that so many new voices have gotten to join. I am quite okay with having to delete a little spam here and there in exchange for bringing new blood to the site.
I would, however, like to eventually see user permissions set to such a way as to restrict how much new posters can post. It's a pretty common practice and I think it would help curb most of the spam.
-
... it's just that only few real members have joined, and judging by the names they would have gotten in anyway.
out of the 1600 members joined virtually all are spammers or bots.
Spam is not bad, but the site already works slower.
-
I haven't noticed a bit of slowdown in the site.
There are forums that run on smaller servers with more active members than this site has total members... and they run just as smooth as this one.
-
oh it runs slower.
Before access was instant, now the circle spins 3-10 seconds before loadind.
I know the wait is not long but I fear it becomes longer.
-
Still pretty instant on my end. :D

Attention, members of The Cover Project. there are so many Russian spammers came into SNES Game Maker forum and post spam topics. I hope they need to go away. 300 members joined virtually are all spammers or bots.
Here's the website.
