Title: Game Covers Resizing to Standard DVD Size
Post by: kytim89 on January 06, 2012, 01:41:48 AM
I finally found a Dead Space Extraction and No More Heroes 2 black covers. When I took them into a print shop they printed out too big for the paper, so I was wondering that if I provided the links for each cover that maybe someone could rescale the covers to standard DVD?

Q: I used the printing FAQ but this cover is printing out way too large, what's going on?
A: The DPI is incorrect. Please report this in the Point out mistakes to be fixed (http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=307.0) thread. In the mean time you can fix this pretty easily yourself by doing the following:

In photoshop, going to Image > Image Size, unchecking the box that says "resample image", and changing the resolution to 300 pixels/inch

In GIMP, goign to Image > Print Size and changing the X and Y resolutions to 300 pixels/inch

In MS Paint, go to file > page setup > scale to 32%

Make sure you're also using legal size paper if you aren't.

I was hoping that newbie FAQ would prevent people from asking this question over and over and over again but apparently nobody reads it so I guess not

In this case the guide is useless.

I just took closer look at the properties of those 2 covers.
I think nothing can be done to those.

2 inces high, 1000+ inces wide, 1DPI.

wow those covers have all kinds of fucked up dimensions.
size is wrong, dpi is wrong (when I opened it up in PS I didn't get what Arseen got, I got 72 dpi with a size of like, 9 inches high. This shit wouldn't even fit on legal size paper!)

I think what you probably could do is resize the images to our normal dvd cover resolution and then change the DPI to 300.

I have been using Gimp 2 and the covers are still printing WAY bigger than any paper I am using no matter the settings. I might scrap these covers and request covers from the forum while avoiding spamming the forum.
