That template is awesome!  It really gives Sega CD a fresh look!  It looks sort of like a gamecube case but you have managed to take a disc to fill that space.  I would like to see a template for NTSC as well.  I like to have choice, and while vt102 has made a template that offers a serious replacement, your's is quite original and unique.

I have to agree... I think this template looks WAY better than the one I made..

I'm goiing to have to respectfully disagree.  Dont sell yourself short, i like your template better and i'll use if for all my Sega CD games (yep all three of them  :P).

I was referring to my JP/EU template.. Not the US one.. =)

So I am in California (L.A. Area) for a few days and I visited a store I had not been at since way before I moved form Cali to the east coast. The store is called Game Dude, and they claim to be the largest video game store in the world, and this is hard to contest. They have TONS of games from the 2600 to the PS3 (and everything in between). Anyways, I was lucky enough to pick up 2 missing SCD game PANIC! and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein / Bram Stoker's Dracula (double pack).

I should have them done after I get back to Atlanta on the 10th of this month.

From there we still need
3 Ninjas Kick Back / Hook (double pack)
ESPN NBA HangTime '95
Keio Flying Squadron
Lords of Thunder
Make My Video: C&C Music Factory
Make My Video: Marky Mark
Shadow of the Beast II
Ultraverse Prime / Microcosm (double pack)

Awesome! We can have two "complete" (depends on definition of complete) collections of US covers here on TCP someday - N64 and Sega CD.

Well in all honesty it's more like 9. The cover for Jaguar XJ220 has a custom front instead of a retail looking one. I hope that some day i can get my hands on a scan so I can fix that.

For the Sega CD it will be difficult to get a complete list because there are still new games produced(or unfinished which they finish) for it by gooddealgames.... They're not all that good but they exist and are official I think....

Battle Frenzy
Bug Blasters
Burning Fists: Force Striker
Citizen X
Marko
Mighty Mighty Missile
Star Strike

Those they have released so far....
2 + 3 = 23

Well considering that they already come in DVD cases and that they are not recognizide by sega as "official" I think we don,t have to worry much hosting the covers.

BTW... got my hand on another one.. "3 Ninjas Kick Back / Hook (double pack)"

Yup that's a point... Although I think it's a little different than hosting Beats of Rage or other stuff like that because some of these released games were taken from official but unfinished Sega CD games and finished and published.... So those games were official in their times but never finished(I know this for Bug Blasters, Star Strike and Citizen X for sure)....

Not sure if anyone is working on a Mega Cd case nowadays and as ive been pm'ed a couple of times about one, i thought i would throw my hat into the ring. I looked at an original case and tried to copy the style as much as possible with one major difference. I made up a generic back similar to an E.U Megadrive case as i know from painfull expierience how difficult it is to resize a multi language jewel case rear to DVD. The downside is a lot of typing if you want to do multi language but an option to do country specific versions balances that up i think (plus this style of back works well in Shenske's SNES template). In the finished article, i hope to have an option to drop scans from U.S longboxes in, and incorperate both types of Mega CD logos. I have put up three pics and am hoping for some feedback, especially from Mega CD owners who might want to use it. One version has a plain text spine title similar to the one used on original cases, the other two have slight logo changes.

Still a way to go with it but as i said, feedback would be nice. :)

I like it. Very close to the original cases. I prefer the one without the red on the spine. I like the plain text spine, but that could be because all but two of my games are like that. The one very slight criticism, if you could call it that, is that the font is different. But I don't imagine it's easy to find out what font they used.

Would it be possible to add a second type to the template modelled after the other style of case? I mean the one with the black spine which has a red stripe through it, and a yellow 'Mega-CD' in a different font to the one you've done. The game title is also in a different font and colour. They also have a very different front, without the side and bottom borders. Or is this what you meant by the 'both types of Mega CD logos'? If so, never mind. :)

It's not a big deal if you don't add it, and I'm not really sure if I'd prefer to have those ones be as close to the originals, or just keep them all in a uniform style.

And could you add Mega-CD 32X as well? It'd be a bit more effort with the stylised spine and border though.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this template getting completed. Thanks for working on it.

Looks like your the Guinea Pig for this one then mate. ;) So did you get the E.U releases for Mega CD or was there a specific Australian version? Oh and yes, by the 'other type' of Mega CD logo, i meant the one with the red stripe along the spine.

I'm not too sure about our releases. I don't have any images of EU games, but the Australian ones have the multi-language back so I assume we just got the EU releases. The only difference is that on a couple of them, it says "Printed in Australia" after the '© Sega' bit. But that's not on all of them. Not sure if the EU versions had a rating on them or not, the Australian ones don't. They just had a sticker on the front of the case.

I think some of the longboxes we got when tthe system first arrived here had ratings, i seem to recall that Ground Zero Texas had one but cant remember. For the most part though, there are no ratings on the box. I will work on the 32X bit when i get time. In the meantime, heres a possible older type case:

bit of a custom, sizing the art for the front can be a challenge but it always is anyway. With the original cover...

I put in a rear picture and Mega CD 'watermark' tester to try and break up the all black colouring a bit but im not sure on it.. They seemed to stick with black, red and yellow during this phase so thats what i tried. Also made it a UK version so i did'nt have to type in all the languages, though there never was a UK only of this.

And the two types of spine together. Left in the red stripe so as to stay similar to the original cases. I noticed the SEGA logo needs to be smaller on the old style one.

Did all games come in boxes or just some? Most of my games I bought second-hand, and are just in double-jewel-cases. The ones I got at the time were christmas and birthday presents and were also just double-jewel-cases, but since I never really paid attention to the Sega aisles at the stores [all my money went on Super Nintendo and Gameboy games], I don't know if all were like that or if some had boxes.

Thanks for the older-style case preview. Could you post a preview without the watermark and rear image for a comparison?
