A yes and welcome to the project.... --- End quote --- That's kind of what I was going for. Hence the new Konami logo and the url on the rear. I am trying for a uniform look with modern games, and I prefer the PEGI rating logos to the old ELSPA ones. Thanks for the feedback, the Cover Project seems to be an excellent resource for artists to share ideas! |

Looks cool. I agree that the modern logos look out of place, but I really like what you did Mega CD header on the front. A few other things kind of irk me (the superfluous Japanese MCD logo on the spine, the placement of the PAL logo on the front, etc) but on the whole I definitely think you're on to something with the design. The simple fact that the template leaves plenty of room for actual ARTWORK on the front gets a big thumbs up from me. |

I'm going to agree with both Jigsaw and Tik.. I think the template looks really nice (much nicer than my MCD template). But I personally feel that the new and the old don't mix too well.. It is a really good start however.. KUDOS! |

It's just that to fit it in with any modern consoles it needed a small logo at the top, Gamecube has the purple G, Xbox the green X, Playstation has the old P and S logo. The MegaCD only really had the metallic lettering. I also wanted to have a logo on the rear next to the 1player logo that told you how many RAM blocks the game used, but couldn't find out without booting up the system. And I couldn't be bothered to do that ;D I've mocked up a revised addition, anyway. |

I don't mind the existence of a logo at the top of the spine - but the Japanese logo not only looked out of place designwise, it was also redundant as it was literally right next to another logo that says "Mega CD". What you've got now looks much better in my opinion, although I think there's a fair amount of unnecessary empty space surrounding it. Move the SEGA logo up to the CD symbol and remove the leftover black space below it and I think it'd look better - you'd free up more space for the title of the game; something that may well come in handy when a game's title has more than eight characters in it. The PAL logo still bothers me. Having it and the Konami logo fight over the same corner makes little sense (not to mention it obscures poor Metal), but that itself raises another issue: with the CD-shaped header there are only really two proper corners where company logos and such fit in naturally. You could always try to put a logo in one of the upper corners, but instinctively I feel it might look odd. In any event, you'll probably want to move the PAL logo in order to make room for logos in both lower corners for company and possible ratings logos. You could make it part of the header - or remove it for that matter. Japanese PlayStation games, for instance, have no region or NTSC symbols on the front, only on the back (and possibly on spinecards). As it is I think it's doing a disservice to the overall design, and if you can't make it work well I think it's much better to get rid of it than put it some place where it won't look good just because you feel it has to be there. |
