I do appreciate you all recommending rapidshare but I refuse to use one of those sites as I have a few hundred megs of covers, I found these a long time ago and just put them on a DVD, there not really organized but they are excellent quality of covers from CD-I, Dreamcast, SegaCD, a ton of 3DO, SMS, SNES... I found this site looking for some SegaCD DVD Covers "which is really cool, thanks" ... If any admin or user can provide a FTP I will send it to them and then they can provide it to help this site. I will connect using FlashFXP, Thanks again for the great site and sorry for the inconvenience but I would like to dump these before I lose them one day...

Burn242, the reason FTP isn't being given out (only Snowcone, the site admin, and users wit the [COVER ADMIN] tag under their user name have FTP access.) is because not only could you upload covers, (which wouldn't be a problem) you could also delete covers in the upload queue and add files that aren't covers. (Snowcone has this space set aside for covers and things related to this site)

Could you please upload just one cover to the site using the normal means? Make sure it's saved as .jpg.
Definitely rapidshare.... Ftp access is nothing to be given away too fast.... You know if someone has ftp access he could do much harm....

You never know.....
Yeah, I just didn't want to come off as a dick.

Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum, but liked the idea of updating Sega Mega CD cases. I like the official Gamecube Template a lot so my Sega CD template is based on that for a regular sized DVD case. Here's a look of Snatcher in my custom template. what do you think?

Cheers!

Looks pretty good at first glance....

Only the PEGI info looks kind of displaced on such an old game cover....

A yes and welcome to the project....

That's kind of what I was going for. Hence the new Konami logo and the url on the rear. I am trying for a uniform look with modern games, and I prefer the PEGI rating logos to the old ELSPA ones.

Thanks for the feedback, the Cover Project seems to be an excellent resource for artists to share ideas!

Looks cool. I agree that the modern logos look out of place, but I really like what you did Mega CD header on the front. A few other things kind of irk me (the superfluous Japanese MCD logo on the spine, the placement of the PAL logo on the front, etc) but on the whole I definitely think you're on to something with the design. The simple fact that the template leaves plenty of room for actual ARTWORK on the front gets a big thumbs up from me.

I'm going to agree with both Jigsaw and Tik..

I think the template looks really nice (much nicer than my MCD template). But I personally feel that the new and the old don't mix too well.. It is a really good start however.. KUDOS!

...the superfluous Japanese MCD logo on the spine...

I knew it would annoy someone!

It's just that to fit it in with any modern consoles it needed a small logo at the top, Gamecube has the purple G, Xbox the green X, Playstation has the old P and S logo. The MegaCD only really had the metallic lettering.

I also wanted to have a logo on the rear next to the 1player logo that told you how many RAM blocks the game used, but couldn't find out without booting up the system. And I couldn't be bothered to do that  ;D

I've mocked up a revised addition, anyway.

I don't mind the existence of a logo at the top of the spine - but the Japanese logo not only looked out of place designwise, it was also redundant as it was literally right next to another logo that says "Mega CD". What you've got now looks much better in my opinion, although I think there's a fair amount of unnecessary empty space surrounding it. Move the SEGA logo up to the CD symbol and remove the leftover black space below it and I think it'd look better - you'd free up more space for the title of the game; something that may well come in handy when a game's title has more than eight characters in it.

The PAL logo still bothers me. Having it and the Konami logo fight over the same corner makes little sense (not to mention it obscures poor Metal), but that itself raises another issue: with the CD-shaped header there are only really two proper corners where company logos and such fit in naturally. You could always try to put a logo in one of the upper corners, but instinctively I feel it might look odd. In any event, you'll probably want to move the PAL logo in order to make room for logos in both lower corners for company and possible ratings logos. You could make it part of the header - or remove it for that matter. Japanese PlayStation games, for instance, have no region or NTSC symbols on the front, only on the back (and possibly on spinecards). As it is I think it's doing a disservice to the overall design, and if you can't make it work well I think it's much better to get rid of it than put it some place where it won't look good just because you feel it has to be there.

I will take on board your advice and do a revision.

To be honest I originally treated this as an exercise to emulate modern game covers, so in regards to out of place logos and redundant design choices, some might argue that I have succeeded. Lol.

That Snatcher case looks great.  I hope to use all kinds of cases in that style.

That template is awesome!  It really gives Sega CD a fresh look!  It looks sort of like a gamecube case but you have managed to take a disc to fill that space.  I would like to see a template for NTSC as well.  I like to have choice, and while vt102 has made a template that offers a serious replacement, your's is quite original and unique.

Actually, what is most intriguing about this template versus the official is how much ink it will save!  KEEP GOING!

I have to agree... I think this template looks WAY better than the one I made..
