Okay, so here's my attempt at a Megaman custom spanning spine requested by soundwave925. I honestly have never really played much Megaman over the years, but my quick research into it for this project, plus the way it turned out makes me really want to get these games!  ;D

I liked the overlapping "group shot" take Seraph Man did, and while it wouldn't have worked so well on my Sonic spines, here it was not only good, but kind of necessary, otherwise some characters would seem like they had body parts cut off in odd noticeable ways. I also took Arseen's suggestion of adding Wily Castle to the background, which I think really brings it together very nicely. The only logo I had to create was for Megaman: Dr. Wily's Revenge, since I couldn't find it at good enough quality. I know it's different than the real logo, but I tried to make one that matched the others. If I find the real one later on, I'll make an alternate spine.  It might seem a little cluttered at first glance, but I think it'll look great once printed.

These are for black US standard width cases. As usual you can download them from by box.net folder:

https://www.box.com/s/80jpnvo8fsxklxp15mzg

I also completed the Donkey Kong Country GBA spine set. They are available in my box.net folder in both US and EU spine sizes.

Up next I will attempt to tackle the Castlevania spines. From what I've read, there are 3 GB games, 3 GBA games and 3 DS games. I'll need specific character suggestions for all of them, and I also need to know what order the games go in (or whatever the preferred order is). I also need to know if all of them should have one big spine, or if they should be grouped in some way, like just the GB ones, or just the GBA ones.

As usual I look forward to seeing them printed out while I wait for more cases!

That Mega man set is awesome.

Castlveania games:

DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

GB
Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
Castlevania Legends
Castlevania: The Adventure

GBA
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Classic NES Series: Castlevania

I'd say order should be grouped by Console with one image spanning all cases, with option of expanding the image as new games get released.

WOW these turned out better than I thought, they look really great. One minor thing though, do you think it should have "capcom" logos across the bottom instead of "nintendo", like how the sonic spines have "sega"?

Yeah, I think you're right. It crossed my mind, but I forgot to do it as the reference spines for the games had Nintendo at the bottom (probably just following the handheld template).

I've reuploaded them on my box.net with the Capcom logos at the bottom.

Should I go back and change the Donkey Kong Land and Donkey Kong Country spines to have the Rareware logo or keep it just Nintendo, or have both?

I think its ok the way it is because the donkey kong games were developed by rare but published by nintendo, plus DK is one nintendo's flag ship characters.

Well I think I've had too much caffeine because I just went on an absurd custom spine roll just now! Nobody asked for them, but here's some more custom spine sets from me:

A spanning spine for Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge and Banjo-Pilot. I really like how these turned out.

And on top of that, to celebrate the release of the Star Wars saga on blu-ray tomorrow, here's a HUGE complete spine collection for all the GB, GBC, and GBA Star Wars games (minus LEGO). They are more like a matching set, like my Sonic spines, so it doesn't require having them all.

Above are several groupings. First are the movie-based games. I went with the matching "Episode" style titles for these because they look like a complete set together. There technically isn't an Episode I game for Game Boy, so I've made it an alternative option for Episode I: Obi-Wan's Adventures, since it's the closest to a movie-to-game adaptation. Next are all the non-movie based games, including the regular Obi-Wan's Adventures spine. Since Episode I: Racer is a larger cartridge and would require the double-width case mod, I've provided two spines for that game.

Of course not everyone will prefer the "Episode" style titles for the original trilogy games, so I've provided 2 alternate sets. The first is based on the classic poster/release titles, and the second is based on the 1995 THX home video release titles. I have 2 choices for the first Star Wars in this set - the "A New Hope" title as seen above, and the "Star Wars" title from the video sets (not pictured). Unless I missed one, I believe that covers all the Game Boy Star Wars releases, except for LEGO Star Wars.

I know some of these games don't even have covers made on this site at all, but I'm sure eventually there will be. All these spines are black US DS width, though I'll be making EU sized ones soon.

The Star Wars spines are nice. Two things though:

1) Shouldn't Obi-Wan's Adventures have Obi-Wan on the spine? I mean, I get it for the whole "episodic" set, but for the one with the original name, it should be Episode 1 Obi-Wan
2) Could you also do the Racer one as 1 image spread over two spines? Like a racing pod or something. Y'know, since you said yourself that this would be for a game that would require the double case mod.

Thanks. I'll see about making an Obi-Wan spine. The thing is I tried to exclusively use images from the New Essential Guide to Characters so they all matched, but there's no Episode 1 Obi-Wan image. However I can probably get something similar enough. As for the Episode 1 Racer spine, yeah I could do that, I just wasn't sure if it would be split in half awkwardly. Should I make that as two separate spines or as 1 double-width spine?

Here's what I got for an alternate Obi-Wan's Adventures featuring Episode I Obi-Wan. It's fan art, but the style is close. I also made a double-width spine for Episode I: Racer featuring Anakin and Sebulba's pods. I put up 2 versions - with and without Lucasarts logos.

And while I was at it I also made a matching spine set for the 3 Star Trek games for Game Boy, using a similar style to my Star Trek PC/DOS covers.

They're all up in US case size on my Box.net, linked in my signature. EDIT: Also uploaded the Banjo-Kazooie set in EU case size.

Wow. Now I want to go back and do something extra to the Xtreme covers, so they can be just as sick. Those Mega Man spines are damn sweet.

Wow! I think I might have to buy me some Megaman games now...

Seraph Man, if you want to make a similar background for your Xtreme spines, what I did was find a sprite background of Wily Castle, vectorized it with VectorMagic.com at medium detail level, and saved the jpeg version. Then in the background of the spines, I put it there and then made it partially transparent (maybe 60% opacity?) over a blue background. I'm sure you could do that with Sigma's Fortress or whatever goes with the Xtreme series.

I'm still confused about the Castlevania series, particularly if it were to be grouped by console, would each of those games still be in release order, or chronological order? From what I've read the proper chronological order is: Castlevania Legends, Castlevania: The Adventure, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, Classic NES Series: Castlevania, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

If someone could tell me specifically what character they want on each, I could try making a spanning spine for all games. I could make 2 versions - 1 in the release order (GB, GBA, DS) and 1 in chronological order. I could also make a combined option for Double Pack, and I could tack Kid Dracula at the very beginning (so if people don't want to include that, it won't really affect the spanning spine). I won't be doing Japanese versions however. Sorry. I only do English versions of games.

Since that'll be a while before that's done, what other series could I tackle in the mean time? Aren't there other Megaman series for GBA & DS, like Battle Network, Zero, ZX and Star Force? If I could get character suggestions for each and suggestions for what should go in the background of each set, maybe I could work towards completing the entire Megaman series on Nintendo handhelds that Seraph Man and I started.

Also, does anyone else use DS cases for their Game Gear games? I was thinking about doing the Sonic games in a similar matching set to what I did for GBA/DS. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Sonic 1 - Sonic
Sonic 2 - Dr. Robotnik
Sonic Chaos - Tails
Sonic Triple Trouble - Fang/Nack
Sonic Blast - Knuckles
Sonic Drift - Amy
Sonic Drift 2 - Metal Sonic
Sonic Labyrinth - ??
Sonic Spinball - ??
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - Scratch & Grounder
Tails' Adventure - Grand Battle Kuku 15th
Tails' Sky Patrol - Wendy Witchcart?

EDIT: Here's a preview of what I'm thinking, using my own personal custom EU-case-sized Game Gear spines (GG logo is same size as GB/GBA/DS now). So far I've knocked out all but Spinball, Labyrinth, Mean Bean Machine and Sky Patrol.
