First post here, anyways, was hoping someone knew if anybody made or is going to make, maybe those gray shells for the cartridges? That way, when I got to garage sells, and buy games that are missing the labels and such, all I would have to do is unscrew the game, take the chip out, insert it into the new, fresh shell, and apply a sticker. Instant mint condition game.

Unusual you'd want to do so, but yeah, they exist. Retrozone has started selling empty NES cases for $3.50 each. They come in red, dark blue, or transparent, not gray like the original carts. The reason for this is a little unclear, but probably to either distance themselves from Nintendo so they don't get sued, or to make it clear that these parts are retrozone's own design, or both. The advantage here is that these cases use standards phillips screws instead of the special security screws real NES games have that require the use of a special screwbit.

Well I certainly wouldn't want to buy those. Gray is the way to go :D0

How is it unusual, whats so unusual about wanting to restore classic games to a more elite condition? Im sure most people hear don't care for torn or scratched up cartridges.

Because most of the time it's just the label, which can be replaced and some marker which can be taken off.

If I had NES cartidges that needed replacements, I'd just deal with the ones there. It's not a hoooooooge deal, right?

Yeah it is most of the time, but once in the while I come across one that has chips or dents. I guess I could take a duplicate game, and substitute its shell.  :P

If you'r really bothered you could buy cheaper common games, then transfer the more expensive games board to the outercase of the cheap one and make a new label.

You would think so......   I was in Minnesota and picked up 3 NES consoles for $5.00 ea. then I went looking for games....  found a place that sold classic carts and they wanted $10. ea for SMB/Duck Hunt.... I declined that purchase. I found another place that sold them to me for .69/ea He laughed when I told him what the other place was charging..... but then a few days later I went back and he had marked his up from .69 to $4.99.
