all a bit much if you just want to download a cover.

i say keep registration for downloads as they are currently - but remove ability to post until function is requested and then account is approved for posting.

Hmm that still won't resolve the problem of accounts that never post but still contain active mirroring links to spam sites cluttering our members list.

Good Lord, I've deleted at least 30 spam posts in the last 5 hours.

This is ridiculous  ::)

Another step in the right direction would be to install an add-on that blocks registrations from a database of known spambots using services such as Akismet or StopForumSpam.

I wonder how they find this site so easily.  Do they put 'places where I can spam s***' into Google and TCP pops up or something?

Actually to me ,this forum actually seems to get a bit less than on some forums I've been on.

I think thats only because we have members in multiple time zones dealing with it really quickly - most members who only drop by a couple of times a day will hardly notice it.  Those of us here all the time are finding it unmanageable.   >:(

Have we ever kicked off a member who may feel wronged?  Is it possible these spam bombs are acts of revenge by an ex-tcp member?

Why not implement something like this:
For newer members: "Your message have been submit successful. For the comment to be viewable by others, one of the administrator will have to approve your message." (if one of the administrator don't have the time to approve the message, the post will not appear on the forum until further notice from the administrator); for the existing members the message posting will work further.
From my point of view in this case the spammers will be less or maybe the threads will not appear in the future.
What do you think?
