I think it's great that you want to get the project going. There have been a few NES collectors here but none of them scanned their covers yet. I'm pretty sure the only way to get covers is to make custom covers, so it's even more appreciated that you plan to make some. With your quite impressive collection of 71 games I'm sure this will cover (pun intended :)) obscure games aswell as some of the most popular.
So kudos to you for taking on this project! I think it's the hardest yet because the games are so old. I'm a big game collector myself but I wasn't in my NES days so all the games I own are without cover  :-\

I don't think custom covers would be all that hard at all.  For the front, you could probably just scan the cart label.  And for the back, the designs are usually so simple that they could be replicated pretty easily.

To start things off, I think I'm going to try my favorite NES games - Megaman II, Super Mario Bros, Tengen's Tetris and Zelda. Tetris should be the easiest since I have the box in resonablly good condition.

Hopefully, after I make a few cases, others can contribue using my cases as a template. Speaking of tempates, I think NES games deserve their own distiction from other systems by naimg it along the top of the case spine like DS and console games do today. The words "Nintendo Entertainment System" written along the top in the same red text found on the flap lip of the toaster style NES would work great I think.

So once I have a cover done how should I post it to show you guys? I'm very new to this so please forgive my lack of knowledge in such matters.

PS Snowcone I know you're busy but if you could, please add an NES section. I'll have the first of my covers done by tomorrow.

I'm done my first cover - Tengen Tetris, the unlicened but superior version of everyone's favorite classic puzzle game.

The cover I made fits a Universal Game Case. I used the template for the SNES covers as my guide. However, the Upload page doesn't currently have an NES option, nor does it have an other catigory. How can I contribue the cover to the site?

Also, what format should I upload it as? standard jpeg I would assume?

However, since there is absoultely no guide for what the covers should look like, I want to post a beta version of the cover here to get some suggestions to imporve it before I officically post it and it gets added to the site.

I really like the spine logo you did. The rest of the cover needs a little work, but for a first cover I applaud the effort.

i just made this really fast, i tried to get rid of the rough edges.  i also added a litle banner across the top.  Does this work for you?

If not i have the tetris cover with the worn edges removed, but no banner across the top.
