Hello out there in Video Game Land!

I want NES covers, but I don't have the skills or the boxes or a scanner or much of anything useful in making them... so I'm going to depend on y'all.  ;D ;D ;D

Okay, here's what we've got.  First, there's NintendoAge.com.  There, you'll find more than a few NES Collectors who have NES collections that are worth more than my wife's shoe collection.  Including the most important piece of this puzzle, NES Boxes.  I've started a thread over there and I think there's some early interest in this project. (http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=121&enterthread=y)

Second, we need a case.  They need to be in good supply and cheap-ish.  There are two options that I know of:

https://secure.webmenu.com/shopperinc/shop.taf?f=details&pic=big&itemnumber=50%2D401&_UserReference=D20722C8C273D995453384C9
These cases are all over the place.  They would require no modification, however there is no place on them designed to hold a cover - you would have to print out the cover and tuck it inside with the game.  It'd work, but it wouldn't look as good as a outer wrap.

Then, there's the Media Shelving cases.  These would require a modification (which would be a pain for larger collections) but they do have the outer wrap.  (I e-mailed Media Shelving to see if there's any chance at all they would be interested in offering NES cases... High Hopes/Low Expectations).

Any other suggestions for cases?

Well...

This is the reply I got from MediaShelving:
"Those are the only cases we have. They could probably do custom made. But it you would have to order in the 1000's."

Hmmm....

Bugger......

Maybe someone could trash one of thier cases and let us know what effort is required and whether it shags the case or not?

  • ...and that's the bottom line
Or at least 10 people that would take 100 cases each :)  Although I don't know anyone who has 100 NES games, If I did he or she would be my best friend :D
You could sell the cases you don't need via ebay and make some good money. I guess some collectors would kill to get custom NES cases. But I'm sure the company thinks more about numbers closer to 5-10.000 instead of a mere 1000 :-/

It has been done already, though I'm not sure how long it took.  As 4tyGames posted:

GuilewasNK on CAG posted a picture of a modded mediashelving case that can hold NES games.

Media Shelving Cases - But they're on backorder until late November AND you're going to need to cut the plastic as shown in the pic above.  I've finally ordered some thanks to this upcoming project.  Time to get my entire console collection done!

I don't have any NES boxes to scan (yet) but I'd be more than happy to help with any extra Photoshop work.

I have about 30-40 of the Media Shelving cases as extra. I need to double check my count though. Anyone interested?
