Anyone ever had a go at making homebrew games. I thought of this because while browsing reproduction games and came across nes game carts and chips eg

http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?cPath=24&osCsid=a5056adb03f22365516a479d7f4d2461

so anyone done anything like this or brought any of these?

I reckon it would be pretty sweet to be designing you own cover art/cartridge labels :D

Well, I've bought some NES repros from retrozone and www.nesreproductions.com, but I haven't made any myself yet. I have the materials, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. When I do, I am going to need custom labels. so this thread excites me.

I wish there was a easy way to make your own nes games, i remember years ago there was an 8 bit rpg maker i made some games with, if there was something like that you could just save and load onto a brand new nes cart + chip it would be awesome! Make you own custom nes games, maybe even new games remade into 8 bit, when i think of that i think of this :

the dead space one would be sweet, finally playing through ds2 atm

Technically, isn't a homebrew game, a game you make yourself? Like actually program, design? Like, not an official game or not even a hack/ translation of an official game or prototype/ unreleased game?

I always thought homebrew meant something you made yourself, unofficially, from scratch. Like noclass_nick's Adventures or something?

Yeah that would be cool to do. Search for Secret of Mana 2 and you will find at least one guy that put together his own reproduction.
