Here's a glimpse at what I had in various degrees of finished.

That's okay, but still no. I'm not going to waste over a month of hard work only to not get to even use what I created. So, no, I'm done doing DC covers and will just go back to making UGC NES covers.

Lumberjack42

with all due respect please don't be so stubborn about this, if my template wouldn't have won that would suck but i'd accept it eventually.  One artist less for each system's covers is a big deal.  I really hope you reconsider.   :-\

don't say that your covers would have been a waste of time.  Your covers would be used just in a slightly different template.

I count 45 covers on my HDD that were either finished or almost finished. Re-doing very single one of those after over a month of working on them would be a complete waste of the time I spent working on them.

I know I'm sounding like the little boy who takes his ball and goes home, but dammit, I worked hard on those covers, had over a week of tweaking the template with SMMM to get it right, only to not even get to use it after all. I think that is a justifiable reason to bow out completely, don't you?

Like I said, I don't care what you do with my template, alter it, delete it, it doesn't matter to me. I just won't be using it.

ok then, i won't spend anymore time trying to convince you to stick with the dreamcast covers.

once again i have offered to put the new template on your covers (yes all 45 if i must, i won't be too hard for me) all out of the kindness of my heart.  if you don't want to take me up on that offer thats your decision.

at the very least can you upload the raw files you have for the covers you were working on?

I going to have to say no. I found most of the artwork on the internet, if someone wants to put in the equal amount of time to find it that I did, then they are more than welcome to find it on their own like I did.

I apologize if I sound rude, but I'm just a little pissed and frustrated at having my work tossed aside like yesterday's garbage. Maybe in a few days I might (emphasis on might) reconsider, or I may just delete the entire contents of my DC Cover folder, I haven't decided yet. At least I know the NES template is set in stone and I won't have to redo the over 70 covers I've made for that section.

Your covers would still be used by the 8(+, most likely) who voted orange spine, black back.

I don't think that having both mine and shenske's covers on the site would solve the problem, we would just be back to square one, back to the problem this thread was started from. Shenske won, I lost. You won't see my template for DC covers on this site, so that's the reality of the situation. I'm cool with that. I'm just not cool with handing someone else my hard work on a silver platter.

This is why we need interchangeable templates. It doesn't look like it'd be hard to do, and it would make everyone happy.

It would, but we would be back to the hodgepodge collection of covers we have now.

You guy's have Shenske's template now, you don't need me here.

No, you don't. You've taken over the DC section and you are more than welcome to it. As for me, I have NES boxes to scan and clean up. At least I know I won't be pushed out there.

With only 25 votes out of 442 members, I highly doubt anyone else cares enough to vote either way.Although, I guess you could also say that 11 votes out if 442 members wouldn't constitute a majority anyway, but I digress

I've already conceded the battle so it's all a moot point anyway.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
Yeah, it's a shame that the majority of people doesn't seem to care. I have no plans to recase my DC collection with DVD cases still I voted (for the least wanted alternative it seems :) )

I can understand why you're frustrated. I'm not a fan of the "one template to rule them all"-idea. Sure it's nice to have all your covers on the shelf with the same design, but you could always go to the request forum and say "Hey people, could someone redo cover x in the style of cover y? Both covers are already up on the site". I also think that one template might hinder creativity. But if the people who create DC covers want just one template I'm okay with that. They spend time doing covers that others may need.

But Lumberjack, you definitely don't want to upload your DC covers? Maybe as a leaving present for the DC section? ;) It's true, others may download your covers (you worked hard on) and alter them to their liking and maybe even upload them to the site with another design we didn't even think about yet. But that could happen to anybody.
But if that's your last word, it's fair enough.

On another note, do you want your template to be removed? I mean, as you said, you and SMMM worked quite a while on that and I'd hate to see that going down the drain.

Yes, I want the template removed, as well as all the covers I've wasted so far, (there are three already on the site and about 6-8 in the Uploads folder. I won't upload the remainder of my covers because if shenske wants the same covers he/she can find the same artwork and do the same work I did.

As for the work going down the drain? Well, yeah, but that's  what happens when things are put to a vote, one persons work is abandoned another's is praised and uplifted. That's life. The Wii-cast template won, mine lost so I'm leaving (the section, not the site)

I'm sorry you feel that way Lumberjack :( I loved your covers and was hoping that you'd finish them up, because I was hoping to the the DVD's uniform style. I mean the PS / PS2 have the PlayStation banner where the orange is and the single cover of yours I printed out really made it look nice.

Hopefully, the other person with the DC Covers will be able to manipulate your skill and release nice ones too.
