Search for gamebit, the description will tell you what carts it can open. There is 2 different sizes that matter, they open snes nes megadrive and consoles etc. The one you need is

The end is a standard hex bit and will fit in any handle from a screw driver set etc. It's worth getting this one as well

Then you can basically open almost all nintendo and sega carts and consoles for cleaning etc. If you want to open nintendo handhelds and the games for them (gba ds etc) you will need a triwing driver.

You bought the wrong one.

Like HarpoonX said the 4.5mm one is for the consoles and the 3.8mm one is for the games.

So buy the 3.8mm one.

Hi ok,but i have already 4.5 and 3.8 gamebits and they are ok for snes consoles and cartridge,gb,etc,and both with megadrive games and consoles(pal)but genesis games and some pal games have different wires!pal like iss deluxe and nfl quarterback club 96.for sure that 3.8 on ebay is good?

You can open all NES and SNES games with 3.8mm gamebit (OK some NES games only need normal Philips screwdriver).

I have PAL ISS Deluxe and it has normal 3.8mm gamebit screws.

As far as I know, Genesis carts use the 4.5mm screws; you may want to check the Nintendo Repair Shop; I got my 3.8mm bit there, and it works great on my NES, SNES, and N64 games.

Take a photo or a scan of the side (whole side so we have point of reference) of the cardridge that has the screws, post it and let's see if we can identify the screws.

Actually no need, I have same problem with one cart, I'll try to identify the screw.

EDIT: It is 4.5mm Game bit screw, Problem is that my screw driver has too thick walls, I'll have to find thinner walled version of  the game bit.
