It occurs to me that virtual console games can fit on to SD disks, which are the same size and shape as DS games...

Should there be a DS Case template too, you think?  It's tempting to buy up some old small capactiy SD cards on the cheap to store them.

Unless you can find a place that sells sd cards very very cheap, buying an individual sd card for each game isn't a good idea...

I'm going to reccomend not putting the points on the back.  If Nintendo ever raises or lowers the prices, then someone's gonna have to re-edit all the covers...

I wonder if Nintendo will change the prices, XBLA has been out for over a year and nothing has happened yet...

The virtual games are pretty small, right?  You should be able to find old 16 and 32 MB cards for cheap, I would think.  And maybe some sticker printing...

Oooh, this might get expensive in the long run... :)

Though this is a digression. :)

I don't see that happening. As much as an NES drop is needed.

eBay's got a bunch, for example, here's 10 for $19.99 + shipping (an addtional $19.99 to Canada, sadly): http://cgi.ebay.ca/lot-of-10-New-SanDisk-64MB-Secure-Digital-SD-Flash-Card_W0QQitemZ190132580868QQihZ009QQcategoryZ50523QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD3VQQcmdZViewItem

Although I would think pawn shops or small electronics stores might have the small ones on clearance.  The largest N64 games are 32M, by the way, according to http://web.mac.com/stewart.lawrence/iWeb/wii/VC%20Stuff.html

SD cards do not fit in a DS card case. The DS cards are a little bigger than a SD card.

You could always snap it in where the manual's supposed to go.

The DS case is a great idea - if only we could find SD cards that would fit in the card case.

Anyway, i have been busy with my template, and here is what I wanted to show you guys.

1. A lineup of all the systems I have included so far. (ignore the Japanese region icon - I didn't feel like changing it at the moment for every system snap.) Click on the link below to view a bigger version.

http://www.ddmyab.com/pics/systems-big.jpg

From top to bottom:
Nintendo 64, Mega Drive (Euro/Japan), Nintendo Entertainment System (Euro/US), Super Famicom (Japan), Super Nintendo (Euro), Super Nintendo (US).

I still need to make one for Genesis, Turbografx 16, PC Engine, MSX, Famicom and Neo Geo.

Secondly, here are the latest template previews. Here is what I changed:

1. Reverted to the previous top bar, rearranged the controller icons again.
2. Added a small blue bar for release and genre information.
3. Removed the Wii Points indicator.
4. Made the information bar background transparent (opacity set to 30% at the moment).
5. Removed the blue hue over the US SNES system.
6. Removed the Wii logo from the spine (I think it looks better this way and it leaves more room for the game logo.)
7. Made Agahnim more pronounced on the US version (for those that don't like him, don't worry - I plan on releasing a version without him)

I know you must be getting sick of the same covers every damn time, but here they are once again...

Japanese Zelda 3 cover

US Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past cover

EU Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past cover

PEGI logos on the back still need to be inserted. I think EU covers use the Continuum Bold font for the game title, so that's what I used.

Ah, yes, the flaw in my cunning plan...

I really should have compared the two before I started suggesting, huh? ^^;

OK, I promised Kaiserwave I would have my template ready before Saturday. Well, better late than never, eh?

I also uploaded my Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past VC covers to the site. Since there is no Virtual Console section, I uploaded them to the Wii category, and labelled them all as Custom covers.

The dimensions for each cover are 3240x2175, the same as Stardog's Wii template.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past

Japanese version

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Dante_Ali.custom.wii_virtualconsole-snes-zelda3-jpn_jp.jpg

As you can see, I redesigned the information bar at the back. It's now more inline with Japanese Wii packaging.

US version

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Dante_Ali.custom.wii_virtualconsole-snes-zelda3-us-custom.jpg - Custom

Didn't change too much.

European version

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Dante_Ali.custom.wii_virtualconsole-snes-zelda3-eu_eu.jpg - Original
http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Dante_Ali.custom.wii_virtualconsole-snes-zelda3-eu-custom_eu.jpg - Custom

Changed quite a lot. Included icons for 50/60Hz and EDTV/HDTV compatible, changed the bottom back information.

Regarding the lack of a barcode: unfortunately, the European version on this site has no barcode, so I couldn't include it. I do have a German cover, so I could use the barcode from that.

And finally, here are some ensemble previews...

And the templates...

Template (DVD Amaray)

http://www.ddmyab.com/pics/template-vc-empty.rar - 6.3MB

Template (DVD Amaray) - includes Zelda 3 US/Japan/EU cover

http://www.ddmyab.com/pics/template-vc-3-alt.rar - 37MB

I will probably release a Thinpak version in the near future.

Great! Are the regions included in your empty template or only in the template with Zelda? in other words, which template would you like to see here or are both needed?

Regions are included in the empty template. Pretty much everything is, from systems to game company logos.

I also added NeoGeo, MSX, Genesis, Famicom, PC Engine and Turbografx16 system logos/icons.
