Since UGC's seem to be so hard to get. I am thinking about using the double DVD cases. Meritline has these http://www.meritline.com/27mm-6-disc-dvd-case-black-with-2-trays---p-20503.aspx  Has anybody used them?

They are actually cheaper than the UGC's as well but are they cheaply made. I have well over 1000 carts or more I would like to case eventually. I dont have a ton of manuals so I think I could live without the clips to hold them.

I appreciate any thought or comments. Also would like other recommendations if there is a company that has these for less or better quality.

I think the quality looks about the same as on those that I use.

It says on the page that quantities of over 100 contact them. I quess that means that they can give more discount.

Doubt that you can get them cheaper from nowhere.

I may try this lot of 40 of them first. I really want to case my NES stuff. I have around 675 carts or so as I have been slowly working on a complete collection. I also have a ton of other carts I want to case as well.

I started to use DVD covers, and I have a way to make them work pretty well at holding carts. Maybe this weekend, I'll do a thread showing how I do this, as well as printing the UGC coverss so they fit the DVD cover (27mm) perfectly...or as close as possible.

Those look pretty nice but they don't seem to have manual clips.

I've been using UG's for my nes games and am happy with the results, however the black looks really nice and they would ba able to store SNES and N64 manuals which is a huge plus.

I've been scouring the net for a place sells 27mm cases with clips and that ships to Canada but with no luck so far.

Perhaps these ones would work.

I still have to see if they will ship to Canada.

Yep those should work, but getting rid of that high ridge (surrounding the DVDs) mighr be bit hard

I agree with Arseen.

I was looking into converting a few as I have a few of those empty and it looks like it will take a lot of work for the circular ridges to be removed. The center part doesn't look like too much of a problem though.

Too bad they don't ship to Canada as they are cheaper than UGCs.

As for modifying them, I used a dremel rotary tool to mod my UGCs and it works wonders.

I think that I would be able to mod them without too much trouble.  I highly endorse the dremel tool for anyone modding cases for nes games.

I'm going to try and see if I can source these in canada

I just sent them an email to see if they would be willing to ship to Canada as I would obviously be paying for everything up front.

I told them I would need about 1500 of them over time as I am trying to cellect full sets of American NES and SNES games as well as the N64 games I want.

After looking at the item further, I think with a bit of work, it may be the better than the UGC due to the following:

1. The high ridge would be modifiyable to hold any size cartridge

2.  I like the black colour better than the clear UGCs

3.  The sleeve isn't frosted so the beautiful cover art hosted on this site looks even better

4.  Cheaper than UGC

5.  Holds manuals

I'm hoping to order just a box of 20 to test them out.

If I get a hold of some I'll post my results.

I'm interested in how this may turn out, I'm in Canada as well so this might be a good option. I still have yet to buy any UGC as there always on back order, Keep me updated.

No shipping to canada.

They were very unhelpful and just restated the policy on the website of no shipping to Canada.

I found some clips at home depot that will allow me to put my nes manuals in UGSs however I will keep searching for these in canada for my SNES games.

I found something similar here:

http://www.cdrom2go.com/product/usdm-p59072-1-inch-stacker-case-8-disc-black_1951_72.htm

The will ship to Canada.  I was quoted $39 to ship 40 of these to the Ottawa area.

Total cost for me is about $1.25 per case including shipping.

For the UGC's I can get 200 delivered for $200 so they are slightly cheaper.

I'm waiting for the guy to get back to me about accepting a credit card.

I may order a set of 40 to try them out for SNES games.

So you lose 20%, 400 UGCs 400 bucks, 400 DVD cases 500 bucks = difference of 100 bucks or 100 UGCs!
Try to get discount, and you probably save if you order more.

Just ordered 40 of them for a total of $50.01 shipped to Ottawa, Canada.

Figured I would try them out before ordering a larger quantity.

They are located in Phoenix, Arizona.

They accept VISA.  If ordering from Canada it seems You have to call them as the online check-out won't allow You to switch the country to Canada.

I'll post some pics after I receive them and modify them.
