Thanks for the effort rwiggum, but that doesn't really help me...all you did was switch the solid black background for a solid white background which leaves the problem unresolved. What I need is no background behind the logo.
I'll give my problem again. Someone who has photoshop please do me a favour and remove the background around this logo so that it can be interlaced overtop other layers without the background seen here appearing. The most I could do is reduce the background to white, but it would still be a rectangle shaped scan with a completely white, ugly background. Sorry if I'm a little vauge on my choice of words, I'm not really sure how to explain it...I hope you guys understand. Also make sure to clean out the area between the k and m which rwiggum left black.
Thanks a lot everyone.

Oh, crap. For some reason, when I saved it as Jpeg, it put the white background there. Lemme upload the PSD.

I used Paint.NET to get rid of the background and it's free.

Paint.NET eh? I'll have to get that. Thank you very much for both the effort and the recommendation.

It's what I've been using the whole time. Gimp is probably better, but Paint.NET is simpler. There's also a hack of Gimp called gimpshop that makes the layout like PS. Also, PDN can't open PSDs. :( Gimp can.
