Once you are at this point you also make yourself more attractive to others and it becomes easier for others to know what kind of person you are. If you just stay silent all the time and don't let your personality to show outside then you make your changes worse. My change took many many years, and my progress continues and is going to be a life long project - a depression is a thing that doesn't really go away, but you can work your way out of it in many little ways. Also, I found my "The One" on third try. Got some good life experience on my first two girlfriends: the first relationship lacked true depth, the second was a very quick "oh there are that kind of persons" type of revalation, not going to too much depth in that one. But it only lasted for a month or so.

Anyway, I got inspired to write this post thanks to the image earlier on page 2. That is somewhat what happens about each time she comes over. Things are pretty good for me, and being what I am (a very nerdy guy in many ways) I've still managed to find my own jewel - and you'll find too if you pay attention to yourself first, and find the places where to make yourself available in real life or online :)

Thanks for sharing, man! Very encouraging. I've kind of had a similar self-re-evaluation over the last few years, and gained a lot of confidence that I didn't have before.

Unfortunately for me, I'm up against the problem of where to find girls, especially the geeky and/or gamer type that I'm looking for. I've finished college as far as I'm going in-person (my masters will be all online), and work hasn't turned up anyone. Sadly the local venues are not too good either. If only there was some kind of site with the sole purpose of people meeting each other over a similar interest, such as retro gaming. I'm kind of surprised there isn't such a site for my other big hobby - Star Wars - there are official and fan sites, but meeting people is like trying to find a grain of rice at the beach. Anyone got any suggestions?

And I'm siding with the "don't watch football" crowd... ::)

This site worked well for one of my roommates and they are absolutely perfect for one another.  They have been together for a few years and are looking for a house together.  :)

It would be cool if I had a girlfriend who liked playing video games with me, especially f we were both fans of the same types (Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, Street Fighter, etc).

nice topic i have a girlfriend who doesn`t care at all if i play too much or collect games she even buy me some, she is awesome, anyway she is one in a million specially here in colombia.

I've had a couple of girlfriends who were pretty avid gamers themselves, and honestly, it really didn't work for me.   My wife doesn't care for gaming at all, save for the occasional Wii bowling match when friends are over.  But, she tolerates my hobby and collection, and that's enough for me.

Gamer girls are out there, but they aren't that common, that's for sure.
