Ok guys, got a problem.  It appears I'm not exactly popular with the ladies because I have 500+ games and 12 consoles hooked up to one TV.  I was devastated when I was laughed at, then rejected by a girl because she feels my collection makes me too much of a "little kid" even though I'm an adult.

Has anyone else had this happen?  And how / when do you tell a girl you're a game collector, or do you just let her find them the first time she comes over?

All advice appreciated

Sincerely,
A Heartbroken Mariocaseman

I have always wondered where these girls who love avid gamers can be found.  They must be in a magical land of awesomeness.  Either that or my super-power truly is an uncanny knack for repelling women.  Yeah, that's probably it.

Anyway... As it pertains to your topic;  The best advice I could give you is to not let such small-minded ridiculousness get to you.  Easier said than done, this I know.  But, the truest of truths is that if this girl (or any person really) doesn't want anything to do with you based solely on your love for collecting video games, she's just not worth your time.  She's not willing to look beyond surface value of a person (ie your life stats, if you will - money, status, hobbies, looks, etc...).  It;s been my experience that people like that simply aren't worth having in your life.

Now, as far as how one tells a girl their a game collector.  Unfortuantely, even as mainstream as games have become, many people still view it as a "kid thing" and look upon adult gamers and "childish losers".  Tis silly if you ask me, but so are very many things in our modern society.  In your case mariocaseman, you're clearly more than just a casual gamer and collector.  500+ games and 12 different consoles means you're pretty involved in collecting and playing.  Given the negative connection such a hobby has in society, your love for gaming isn't something I'd lead with when meeting a new girl who interests you (if asked about it, be honest - lying in relationships only leads to problems, trust me on that).  Bottom line;  If a woman doesn't want to be with you just because you have an extensive game collection, let her roll into the past and keep looking for someone who'll accept that about you (and maybe even share in it with you).

Thats some good advice quazimoto. I too dont let females know about my games until they see them. And they dont have a problem at all. Most of the times they ask me to hookup the snes and play some super mario world lol. Or play halo or cod. (And they arent bad at all o_0)

But that aside you have to not let it bother you and tease her on her hobbies when those situations come up. Girls love a man ehos passionate about something.

Dude someone who doesnt like that you are a game collector is not worth your time. My girlfriend thinks its a little odd i have over 700 video games and 20 systems but as long as i still take her on dates and dont always play games shes fine with it you have to give a little to get a little. When you meet a girl do not say anything about your game collection just let things happen and when she comes over to your house she willl see the collection i cant tell you shell accept it but most women are fine with these things as long as you find time for them dont always stay home and play games go on dates go for a drive take her on a road trip, thats what i do with my girl and she loves me more then anything. truth be told if a girl doesn't like you for you  she is not worth your time.

My wife supports me in my hobby and even sometimes plays games with me. She wants to help me get some arcade cabinets and set up a game room/ theater. I actually collect more than play, usually buy a game, then put it on the shelf.

Anyway, now I'm trying to get her to like the Star Wars movies, at least she likes the Family Guy versions.

Most things we do together. Anyway, it ain't worth it to be with someone that doesn't at least support what you like. She doesn't have to like it, but she shouldnt not like YOU for it. You'll find the right girl someday.

By the way, what's a GIR hat?

Gir is a character from the show Invader Zim.  I went to an art school and a lot of the girls there were into animation/gaming wore hats like that.  They're usually also into anime.

Might want to keep the word Bootleg out of your posts.. We don't condone that kinda stuff around these parts.

Thats how Ive always done it. Never backfires! Ive been a pretty hardcore gamer starting at a very young age but Ive always had a very active social life. I get out and party on a regualar basis with friends. I did however manage to get lucky a found myself a cute girl who not only shares most of the same interestests and social/recreational activities as me, but is also quite a little gamer herself! They are out there.

But Ive definetly dated my fare share of girls who didnt care too much for video games that ever had any issues with my hobby because it was never became a problem.

Once you're in the friend zone you are trapped there for good or until she confesses her love for you (in my experience this usually happened when i hooked up with other girls but hey...).

As far as point #2 goes... you don't watch football!? At least fake it lol. At the very least you can watch SportsCenter for 1 hour and be caught up with at least 3 days of sports.

This is true.
