Most consoles generally have at best a few games that define the system. Generally these games are either console specific or are simply the best version available. For me ....

N64 = Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, Banjo series, Zelda - OOT
SNES = Donkey Kong Country series, Mario All-Stars
PS1 = Gran Turismo, NFS Hot Pursuit
PS2 = None that I can think of .....  ;D
Dreamcast = Soul Calibur, Hydro Thunder, House of the Dead 2, SF 2049

As a result you can make a case for owning a particular console if you have a desire to play/own those particular games that rock your boat so to speak. Console emulation generally isn't of a suitable standard to replace a console although PS1 emulation is cetainly getting up there. But for me it's the controllers that really count. N64/Dreamcast emulation is crap and I love the original controllers.

So owning a console just for one game isn't an issue for me ...... especially when you can pick one up in their twilight years for pennies ....  $30 for a Dreamcast is dirt cheap. Just make sure that the unit has a good GD-Rom laser as they're hard to replace now .....

Shoot, that's what I meant. Of course I wanted to say I bought the PS2 just for Devil May Cry :)

I've scanned all my Gamecube, PS2 and Genesis/Mega Drive covers and will upload them as soon as somenone tells me If my covers are the way they should be. You can download my "testcover" here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=73AFB15X
Hope it works for you.

Why do I post this in a CD case cover topic? Because next on my list are my PS1 and Dreamcast games. I just wanted to ask if someone has the measurements for the standart front cover and the European back covers? The front cover is the same size as the US covers but the European games have a wider spine since they came in different, thicker CD cases, so the back cover is wider, too.

I can probably dig around and find exact cd case measurements on a media site if you need.

Edit: Holy crap, Megaupload bends you over when visiting. I couldn't even get to the site without filling out applications for stuff.

Wow, you people really have problems with megaupload? I didn't know where to host the cover for everyone to check out and a friend said megaupload would be a good way. Hmm, any alternative ways? Rapidshare? Or are they just as annoying? Sorry for the inconvenience, I had no problems with my Megaupload link and I figured other people wouldn't either. Guess it's easier for the one who uploaded it to access it than for anyone else.

@Snowcone:
Yeah, the measurements would be nice. I checked some other cover sites which had CD Case covers for Dreamcast and PS1 but they are all different in size so I didn't know how I should resize them. I scanned and resized some covers based on TheValeman's Hydro Thunder DC covers but that just works for my US and JPN import titles because European DC games have no inlay.They just have the front cover and the other side of the front cover is just plain white. Same with the back cover, it just has one spine which is about double the size of a US or JPN game. And all this also applies to the European PS1 games :(

Man, I'd really like to find out why oh why they have to make different cases and designs for different countries.

I'll find the measurements for you.

Re: MegaUpload

I've never used them or visited their site before and when I hit that link it told me I had to register for a free laptop before I could visit the site and hit me with lots of popups.

So you never actually got through to the cover? Maybe it's better when I email it to you?

I'll clarify my DC scans for the record .....

All I have done with the scans for US Dreamcast games Hydro Thunder & Sega GT is basically scan them @ 300dpi, straighten them, clean up and post. No manual sizing has been done on them. So simply printing them @ 300dpi should result in the proper size covers.

Yeah .... PAL Dreamcast and PS1 stuff is awkward .... those stupid double width boxes certainly dont help. However .... as you cant readily buy those boxes now anyway to replace broken ones it may be better to simply use a normal US size spine. In fact if you check EBAY you'll find original PAL DC games being sold with thin cases. Seems Sega saw the light later in the DC life anyway ..... finally ..... before the end.
