I had an idea to put alternate titles for some games so they match the later games in the series, the actual name or whatever. Some of this already exists on the site, such as the US SNES Final Fantasy 4 and 6 using their Japanese original names.

I'd like to see the Japanese art with an English "Castle of Shikigami" logo for PS2 Mobile Light Force 2. Dragon Warrior I-III for NES and GB color renamed to Dragon Quest, maybe the WWF games changed to WWE, PS1 Felony-1179 called Runabout to match its sequel, maybe the ChoroQ games (Road Trip, Penny Racers, etc) renamed to show they are in the ChoroQ series.

Now, I'd only like to see this done for games that had different/original names for later titles in the series. So I don't wanna call the Resident Evil or Mega Man games Biohazard or Rockman.

Other options include titles like this: Rival Turf, Rival Turf II- Brawl Brothers, Rival Turf III- The Peacekeepers. Or even games that weren't officially sequels, even in Japan.. Soul Blazer, Soul Blazer II- Illusion of Gaia, Soul Blazer III- Terranigma.

Thoughts?

Agreed.

One serie that is problematic is Earthbound.

Don't like the name Earthbound Zero, or name Mother.

So maybe we should call NES version Earthbound and change the name of SNES version to Earthbound 2.

We've had the discussion before.  All games are based on the US name of the game and will stay that way to maintain consistency. We will use the name of the game from another region if it was not released in the US.  Its much less confusing just to stick with one way ... we should just keep it how it is.

Rival Turf!, Brawl Brothers and The Peace Keepers appear to be spinoffs of Final Fight. I believe that they may even be sequels dropped by Capcom and picked up by Jaleco. notice that Peace Keepers has an id number of "R6" which will make it the sixth release in the family after Final Fight 3. I think that it is best to leave the names as they are on the box.

I don't think that's necessarily what he's talking about. Sounds like he means something more along the lines of how we have "Final Fantasy IV" in the Final Fantasy II SNES section since they're the same games. He's basically asking about uploading US covers for games like Dragon Warrior or Illusion of Gaia with their original/alternate titles on the box, etc.

...at least that's what it sounds like he's asking. A good example might be maybe uploading a Sparkster (genesis) cover that said Rocket Knight Adventures 2 -- Sparkster on it, or a Super Metroid cover that said Metroid III -- Super Metroid on the front.

Don't we already allow this anyhow?

No, these were all developed by Jeleco. Capcom had nothing to do with any of them. In japan the series is called Rushing Beat 1, 2  & 3.

Exactly. I did say "alternate".
