2 more alternates:

Thoughts?
For me, I only open my UGCs to play a game so I'm not worried about the cart covering a logo or part of the artwork. So going by that logic, I like the one with the bigger logo because the other one looks empty when you take the cart out.

Didn't see these posted anywhere else so I thought I'd contribute. Building on Gill35's work, I decided to make some generic "per system" UGC inlays of my own. I really liked the minimalist style of his Sega covers with just logos, so built mine with that in mind. I also did minor rearrangements to Gill35's Genesis inlay to make it line up in the modern UGC better.  All of the remaining artwork is taken from Shenske's templates for their respective systems. I just resized or rearranged as necessary. For me, I like this style better than hunting for inlays/artwork for specific games. Just mass printed a bunch at Staples and threw them inside with my existing covers. Here's what I ended up with:

Atari 2600 inlay:

Famicom inlay:

NES inlay:

Super Famicom inlay:

Super Nintendo inlay:

Super Nintendo alternate inlay (Swapped sides, logo isn't covered by cart):

Nintendo 64 inlay:

Nintendo 64 alternate inlay (JP style):

Gil35's Genesis inlay (rearranged for modern UGC):

Enjoy! Or not...  :)

ever think of having the green in the center of the n64 inlay instead of the black? and nice work!

Obviously I've been working on a Super Metroid one.  Want to work on a Metroid NES one as well as a Battletoads one.  For Metroid there's some artwork and sprites to use on metroid-database.com but for Battletoads I can't find anything I like really.  Has anyone started work on one of those? Or know of some cool artwork I could use to get started?

I kinda like this one: http://wallpoper.com/images/00/30/85/85/battletoads_00308585.png maybe flip it so cart doesn't cover most of the art.

Yep.  I started working on that one already.  But I feel like there must be some more artwork out there from the box or manual or something that would match the cover more.  Just checking to see if someone found something I didn't.

Ok. So user: smurdd uploaded this cover just now for Super Metroid:

This is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for to use as an inlay. Going to see if I can get the scans for this.

That is great!  What I would do is a little different.  I would flip the artwork you have there, so the Metroid with Samus inside is on the left side.  Personally, I would also remove the title, since that's already on the cover and spine.  Just looking for cool artwork for the inside.

Looking at that, would I be right to assume this is something you created yourself? It's quite nice!  :)

What the hell, is the metroid going to digest Samus?

Excellent work overall guys, I think this is a great idea and will definitely consider this for my covers. I love the Zelda ones and think it looks great with the cart in there. My only concern is the printing costs are going to double for each cover if I print inlays for all of them.
