VERY nice work; I like it a lot. My only idea would be to make the Sega logo a bit brighter, since its somewhat hard to see against the darker tone. Otherwise, its awesome, and I'd love to have it in vector format.

Hi Moviefan!

Ok, so what I had to do was actually darken the SEGA JUST A SMIDGE, and lightened the gradient behind it JUST A HAIR.  :D

I really tried to find a good blue that matches the logo you posted, but was lighter, and still reads easily. Because of the color (warm/purple gray, and purple has some blue to it) of the gradient behind it, when I lighten the SEGA, it got harder to read (tried for a good while). I even blew it out to Sonic the Hedgehog blue, and was still really hard to read. The graphic designers at SEGA really know what they were doing with their color choices here for their logo.

Even for something as nuanced as this, you probably want to do some test prints to check for readability.

So I hope you like the result. What do you think?  :)

Very good, but when I opened it in Photoshop, it was flattened with the black background still intact. Could you provide a version without the background?

Awesome job mate. Just as moviefan pointed out, why don't you try to use the oficial blue color SEGA uses on its logo? the html code for it is #004b8d.

Removed black background, added another version, one with custom color, and another with official SEGA blue as per pumanchero's hex color code. Enjoy!  ;D

Hi autobot,

Awesome work on Sega Genesis logo.

Question:

Are you able to recreate in Illustrator the "Official Sega Seal of Quality" ? Been looking for it for a long time. I'm talking about golden one, like so: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/99/SEGAQUALITYSEAL.PNG
I tired doing it, by my skills are limited.

Hi Gamescanner,

I took a look at the logo, and it definitely seems doable. The only tricky part of it are the conical gradients, or rather the rays of "metallic" colors radiating from the center in the circle, which I've never done in Adobe Illustrator, but it'll be a good time to learn :) I'll try to get a start on it as soon as I can.

Glad everybody's happy with the Genesis logo, I'm getting a lot of downloads for it!

Hi autobot,

I must say I personally would be insanely grateful for it, as I plan on restoring some Genesis boxes.

But...

Since I don't wanna be a freeloader, I did something in meanwhile that was well within my capabilities. Here's the Original/Old Sega Genesis Seal of Quality in Hi-Res PNG.
Enjoy!!! :)

All I ask for is PLEASE give credit. That's all folks :)

Holy Cow guys,

I'm really sorry that I haven't checked in, life got hectic there for a second, but I'm back!

I'm starting work on the seal of quality logo as I'm writing this!  ;D

^^^ dude, don't stress over that icon. I already made it and upped it ;)

I can't access the EPS file on box. Stupid iPhone won't let me copy links and the apps blows monkey balls :(

I'll add the link later.

These won't do. First one doesn't reflect any of the seals I've seen on Genesis boxes (correct me, if I'm wrong).
In the second one, you have diagonal gradient. It should be radial. I'm working on new color version as well. Once finished, will post it as well for your critique.

The first is a minimalist version that I made for my own purposes.  It's not meant to be a gradient mess like the original.

I see now. I was talking about Genesis version.
Nice job on the second "seal" for Saturn.

***

Well, I'd done my version of the Sega Genesis Seal.
I've scanned at 600dpi a poster form "Toki Going Ape Spit" in 600dpi. Removed background, applied "noise/median" and "motion blur in Photoshop. Erased all the lettering and finished it in Illustrator.
Here is a final result... I think I could've done it better. (I might go back to it and re-tweak it).

Please, give credit if you use it.
