Hey guys how's it going? I am new at printing game covers so I was wondering what is the best paper to use? I know I need semi gloss legal sized paper, but I was wondering what brands are the best and what kind of paper do you guys use so I know which one to buy?
Thanks

Depends on your printer, but I use Epson's 3-star glossy photo paper for my covers.

Then again, I have an Epson printer so you may want to go with a different one depending on your manufacturer.

I have Canon printer And I use HP brand semi-gloss paper.
It's pretty much down to personal preference, but I'd say any Semi-gloss paper will do and be best choice.

I buy mine from Epson.com because shipping on paper is free (same with ink).  Or I can go into town and get it from OfficeMax but it's usually a little more expensive there.  Depends on how badly I need it I guess.

I just buy from stores, resently bought 3 packs of 100 sheets for 4 Euros each, usually it's about 13 Euros per 100 sheets if I remember correctly.
I don't know is Semi-gloss available in Legal size.
I'm European ( :o) and I use A4 size which is our basic size.

I use Red River Paper 50lb. Premium Matte C2S 8.5x14 photo paper.  While I was digging though this forum looking for the same answer awhile back, I saw a few people recommend this paper.  I ended up going with it and I have been very satisfied with it.  Its not glossy but you cannot tell the different once you get it inside a case.

I've done some searching, and so far have come up empty-handed with Legal size Semi-gloss. It's also difficult trying to find A4 paper available for US (be it sold here or able to ship here), let alone semi-gloss A4.

Is it true that UCG's game covers cant fit onto normal sized paper which is why you need legal sized?

If by normal you mean Letter-size, then the paper will be too short unless your printer is capable of printing borderless, which most printers aren't capable of. That's why Legal-size is recommended (or A4, which is "normal" size outside of the States).

Wow...I just realised that the covers I've been printing must be slightly downsized by my printer then.  After looking at some pictures on the site I notice that I'm the only one whose covers have a small white border (~1/8") around them after cutting them down to fit in UGC.  Never saw this until you pointed it out!

TBH, though, I like my covers with the white borders, so I guess I shouldn't complain.  :)

Check my pictures of collection, and you should notice that I too leave white strip (about 5mm or 1/5 of inch) to the bottom.
This is due to to the fact that I use 28mm wide DVD cases, and am too lazy to resize the covers.
