Transfering Dsi to 3DS Question

I own a 3DS and would like to buy a Dsi XL.  I am aware that if you own a Dsi you can transfer your DsiWare games to your 3ds.  I would like to buy a Dsi XL, download a few games and then transfer them to my 3ds.  Basically, I want the games I download on both systems and only have to pay for each game one time.  Can I do that?  Or do the games you trasfer from the Dsi XL to the 3ds get deleted from the Dsi?

IIRC This, once it has been transferred it stay on the new system and is removed from the old.

Yeah sure, you can't fit whole movies to Mediafire.
