Hey everyone!
I know it's been said before and again and again BUT please please people out there who want to contribute bear in mind that there are standards for our project which should be obeyed!!!!!!!!
The MINIMUM dots per inch(dpi) used when uploading a finished cover should be
300!
The MINIMUM dpi used when uploading a RAW scan should be
300 but for working on the scan 600dpi are prefered(just for RAWS)!
The resolution of the covers are all standardized! Please take a look here and always triple check if your finished covers/cover scans have the right resolution for the cases you made them for.
Always look here to decide which dimensions you go for and keep them in mind please:
http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=39.0You may be asking yourself why that is so important. It's not because we want to stress you or order you around! It's just because every cover which was wrong sized has to be resized and corrected prior to posting by us admins and that's much more work than just thumbing and posting the covers(which is allready enough to do)!
If the dpi are wrong it's even worse because if the cover is too low res(e.g. 200dpi or 150dpi or 96dpi or 72dpi => I saw them all!) we can't use them for the site because when scaling up to the correct dpi the covers often won't look that good anymore which is against the mission statement of this site!
We want to provide the best looking covers on the net and we need all off you to help us maintain these high standards! So please check the standards, make your cover, triple check if everything is allright when you're done and then post it!
Every single contribution is more then appreciated! It makes my heart jump when I see how much love there is out there for preserving artwork for generations of videogames! It just makes me feel soooooo sad when there are so many covers which can't be used because something uncorrectable is wrong with them!
So again thanks for everyone helping to make our site the best video game cover site ever!
Keep up the good work and keep the standards in mind!

Best Regards Sebastian
EDIT:
One last thing. Please don't forget to turn "de-rasterize" on when scanning!!!! Otherwise the scans look awfully dot-ed......

EDIT2:
Now hopefully the really last but nonetheless extremly importing thing! Please never ever use this in your filenames.... " ' ".... Because names like "Acer's quest" for example cause the ftp to make the file unusable. I don't know why but these files can't be moved nor deleted nor downloaded nothing.... So please never use the ' in your filenames!!!!!!! Thanks again!
