I agree with you BellaKazza, Also with GameStop (and most all other retailers) getting rid of all the GameCube games it's not like anyone who is going to be going out and buying a Wii at this point will have access to any GameCube games to play anyway, and if they have GameCube games then they most likely still have a GameCube too.

Backwards compatibility was a nice feature at the start but as the generation goes on it becomes less and less a big deal. At this point Anyone who is buying a Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii are not thinking about ANY of the previous generation games.

Personally I don't even play GameCube games on my Wii, I still have my GameCube hooked up, and I mainly do this for the fact that Some GameCube games actually look better on the GameCube then on the Wii.

It is the principal that sucks.  Think about it, if the upcoming Wii U had a hard drive and was backwards compatible with game gube games, they could expand the virtual console library and we could have all of our favorite nintendo games on one console!  In addition, the wii slim and wii u will not even allow use of the game cube controller so if you use it on any VC games - you're screwed, if you use it on wii games like Mario kart wii - you're screwed.

I'm not too fond of the trend of ditching backwards compatibility these days. I really like having multi purpose systems because that means I don't have to switch out wires as often. I really like this in portable systems because it lightens the load of junk I have to carry around.

I use my Wii for Gamecube games a LOT. I probably wouldn't have searched out the Wii or 3DS if they weren't backwards compatible. I'm a cheap ass, so I'd rather buy two $20 DS games than one $40 3DS game.

Wait it does if you like playing Wii games GameCube controller.

How is the Wii Classic Controller compared to the GC Controller?
Would that be a suitable replacement?

One problem is that some games are only compatible with one or the other or vice versa. Like Samurai Showdown Anthology only works with the Classic Controller and Metal Slug Anthology which only works with the Game Cube controller.

That's wierd that SNK wouldn't be consistent with the avaialble controls in their compilations.
I assume that Metal Slug Anthology can be played with a horizontally held Wii-mote?

Yeah but you gotta shake it to throw grenades.

AFAIK, this is for European regions only, and it is pretty cheap.  Most people who play GameCube games already have a BC Wii or a GameCube hooked up.  I don't see the point when people complain about things like this, like the did when Sony dropped BC on the PS3 for PS2 games.  Both consoles (GC and PS2) are very cheap now, so buying one isn't going to set anyone back much.

As for SNES 2, I'll stick with this one.   ;D

It should be noted, the SNES 2 (SNES-Mini), like the NES 2 ("Top Loader") and the GameCube revision, all removed features that were in the original release of the system.  The only console where the re-release didn't remove features was the revision of the N64.

What revision of the N64?  There was more than one N64 design?

The Pikachu one? But actually, that one's missing the expansion port on the bottom.

Well... sorta.  The Pikachu edition actually has the expansion port on the bottom... it's just covered up without the little removable cover.

But I was really considering features that were used (don't give me crap about the N64DD... ;))

Afaik there was no real revision of the N64 just many different colors and stuff. Only the PAL console was a bit different omitting some kind of port or sth.

For me personally BC was never a real big deal. Got my Wii on launch day (actually one day before) and never used it to play GC games.
2 + 3 = 23

I was at one of the many Gamestop's near me and they still have a hole rack of NGC games and 3 2 sided Racks of PS2 and have no plans of getting rid of them.

Nice.
Too bad it seems it has to be plugged into Wiimote, instead of NGC pad ports.
Annoying how Nintendo makes sure that that these won't be used with Gamecube.

Wonder if the innards are same as the original pad, I mean that I can unplug the cord and connect it to this instead:

Best SNES pad ever.

But I have this:

so I can still connect my Ascii pad to Gamecube for GB/GBC/GBA games
