Ah satoshi_matrix, you have whetted my appetite for Little Samson even more. Of all the games I'd like to add to my NES collection -- Panic Restaurant, Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers 2, Conquest of the Crystal Palace, etc. -- this is undoubtedly the one I long to play the most.

Regarding Kirby's Adventure, I remember anticipating and purchasing that game when it was first released, and I believe that it was the first game that illustrated that although the SNES was the new hotness, the NES could still provide some amazingly comparable experiences. This game, as well as The Legend of Zelda, were the two NES games that kept me coming back for more.

Yeah, and as I said in the coverage, Kirby's Adventure is best enjoyed slowly. When i play it, I like to only play one or maybe two stages a day. The longer you play it the more you can appriciate the subtle things it does and the brilliance of the often very unusual level designs. Kirby's Adventure is probably the best example of a platformer thinking outside the box on the NES.

The only thing I don't like about Tengen's Tetris is the fact that there aren't lines showing the four blocks that make up the Tetromino, like there are in most other versions of Tetris.

Example:
Tengen Tetris ____
Nintendo       - - - -

Something like that. Which makes it a little harder to tell if your stack is 3 or 4 blocks high sometimes.

You do bring up a good point, but you can overcome this with enough practice. Eventually you'll know the length of the I block without thinking about it.

Sounds more like the problem being not the I block, but where it will be placed on the grid. If you're trying to get 4 complete rows, you need to know if your wall is tall enough, which may not be obvious with the Tengen Tetris.

Yup...but its not like Metroid is overflowing with Shakespearean level dialogue to begin with.
