Hey Cover Project, I've started what will be an ongoing series as I count down my personal top 100 NES/Famicom games list.

Yes, there are already plenty of NES top 10′s, top 25′s and even top 100 lists all over the net. So why should you care about my top 100 list?

My aim here was to make a unique list that goes beyond simply my picks and my thoughts about them. This list was carefully crafted based on my experience of well over seven hundred individual titles for both the NES and Famicom. My criteria for this list was based on three factors – Overall appeal, uniqueness, and how well each have aged.

This list will include every kind of software ever written for the hardware, whether it be NES, Famicom, unlicensed, prototype, homebrew or Hong Kong original pirate – if it was sold in some forum, it’s fair game for this list. The only type of games I have excluded are hacks of existing games. While many of these are incredible, I may at some point in the future write a separate list for these alone.

I've already got the first three parts done and up.

part 1, #100-90
part 2, #89-80
part 3, #79-70
part 4, #69-60
part 5, #59-50

And what 3 would those be? I just realized Abadox is one I should grab. Pretty much have all the others already or plan on picking them up.

Since I still have ninety games to go, you might want to slow down if you don't want to go broke  ;D

In all seriousness though, what games did you miss out on?

I just realized Abadox is one I should grab. Pretty much have all the others already or plan on picking them up.

Just keep on eye out for the difficulty meter I've added to every entry. Abadox is ranks a 7.5/10, where I consider a 5 to be average difficulty that most players can progress past without much difficulty. The higher the number, the harder it will be. I finished Abadox, but not without using the NES Advantage's turbo fire and turbo Start. Natsume made deceptively hard games towards the end of the NES' life.

I picked up Xexyz, Heavy Barrel and Guardian Legend. I kinda missed out on the NES era when I was younger. I only remember owning smb/dh, ninja turtles 1, rbi baseball, kabuki quantum fighter, kirby, startropics and the mega mans. So yea...seems like imma be spending a lot of money thanks to your list lol

Sorry guys, I meant to have part 3 out by now but a delay getting screenshots is forcing me to put it back to tomorrow or Monday.

Huh... I really thought Dunk Hunt would have been a bit higher on the top 100 list.  But, to  each their own.

And thank you for including The Little Mermaid.  I've always found it to be a little gem of a game that sadly gets far too often overlooked or dismissed as a girl's game (no offense intended to girl gamers).

I anticipate the third and future installments of your list.

The Little Mermaid isn't a girls' game, it just uses a licensed most associated with girls. It's the same was as Hello Kitty World for the Famicom which is merely a Hello Kitty branded version of Balloon Kid. Neither games are girls' games.

Didn't mean to imply that it was, just that it often gets mistakenly dismissed as such.  Tis a shame if you ask me.

And yet a couple more to buy :). I hope that once you finish the NES list you can get possibly the top 100 snes or top 50 gameboy.
