The Gamestop my friend works at was in the process of shipping away all their PS2 stock today. More Gamestops might be or might have already done the same. There were no special sales or anything, but I grabbed Beyond Good & Evil, Devil May Cry 2 & 3, Kinetica, Timesplitters 1, and Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex for pretty cheap.

If you were eyeing anything at your local store, get it now! Otherwise, there's always Amazon. ;)

.... Well not exactly. Only stores who don't sell the system very well and transferring them to other store.  My store is the opposite end of the spectrum ... we're getting at least a few hundred more PS2 titles.  :'(

Weird, this store actually sold PS2 games pretty often. Well that explains them shipping them off instead of waiting for the games to sell out.

Yeah for about 4 years. Up until the last 8months or so it was just part time complimentary to other jobs. I work in Northern Colorado

Well how did it sell in comparison to PS3 and 360? I would say at least 1/4 of my overall sales at my store are used PS2 being in a low income area.

Im an ex employee  but still talk to friends that working in my local area  gamestops  according to their DM gamestop is phaseing ps2 out just like GBA and older handhelds  so if there is anything you want i wouldnt wait to long just in case your local store is on the list sooner than others. this process will most likely take a long time to implement  cause every store i worked at had craploads of ps2 titles. most likely they keeping in the best selling areas and shipping them out of the lackluster areas inot the ones that still selling them well

Relocating product to store store that sell the product well is part of the phasing out program. I think the PS2 will have a very extended phase out since the games are still selling so well and games are still being made. I would agree with you though that if your local gamestop is phasing out PS2 it would be a good idea to get the games you want while you still can.

I both agree and disagree.

Throwing them away is really idiotic.  >:(
But because of that I got bunch of them cheaply.  ;) (BTW still need 500+ of them)

I went in to my two Gamestops to ask about them getting rid of DS cases. Neither of the stores were doing it, and one employee said he thought it may have only been for South Eastern stores.

From my understanding it's trending everywhere unfortunately.  DS sales are down so it is not feasible to allocate so much space for them. It sucks but I guess it's just the way it goes. There are only 3 stores in my entire district that still have cases for their DS games (my store being one of them) and that's only because the Managers were able to convince our DM to let us keep them.

Obviously being a member of this site I really want stores to keep the cases for the games but ... it is a business. Most people aren't as worried as we are about getting a "complete" game. Sigh
