I found this article online and wondered if I could get some feedback from other members here if this would work for all my guns (NES Zapper, SNES Super Scope, and Sega Saturn Stunner).  Does anyone believe this and/or tried it?  I must find a way to use my guns on my HDTV!  I refuse to have more than one television!

Here is the article:  http://www.ehow.com/how_5858711_play-duck-hunt-hdtv.html

I have an LCD or a Plasma, but I can't tell which or what the difference is...  Will the upscaler work for either of those?  I don't want to buy another TV

Won't work.  The upscaler can change things like refresh rate and input delay (I use an upscaler for my LCD HDTV to eliminate the input lag and make my older consoles not look like arse), however since the way light emitted from a CRT is different than the way light is emitted from a plasma or LCD TV, the light gun is incapable of picking up the little white squares on the screen when the trigger is pressed when using a non-CRT.  All my other games work just fine, but alas I cannot play any of my NES Zapper games on my setup.

Well that sucks.  I'm sorry if I got your hopes up.  This is good to know though. I have plans on buying an HDTV soon.  So I guss I had better keep the old one around then.   :(

As Wolf said.

Old Light guns will never work on a conventional HDTV only on CRTs or CRTHDTVs!

If you are purist you should have a big and nice looking CRT anyway because games from the NES to SNES era simply look best on a conventional CRT!

I recommend a Sony Trinitron especially the late models! I warn you though! They are extremly heavy (like 90kg)!

Do they still make CRTHDTVs?

Nope. There were some pretty nice ones though by Samsung as an example. No FullHD though all only HDReady. More was impossible because of the aperture mask. ;D

I can vouch for how awesome the Sony Trinitron is! We have one in our main entertainment center. When I move out after I finish college, I hope to convince my parents to let me have it for my old consoles.

Actually a US citizen, but the US playstation id's look like crap :(

As others have suggested... any console below S-Video should be running on a CRT of some sort.
