Tomorrow I'll be starting what I'm thinking will be my last manual scan project.  As mentioned previously, I don't yet have a complete NTSC-U set of Sega Master System titles, but probably more than enough to get started scanning manuals and inserts (95 out of 114).

** Removed and moved to 1st Post **

For the games listed above, I have eBay Saved Searches to watch for deals.  Damaged manuals and inserts I'm scanning in anyways and will eventually replace.  Some games aren't too hard to find, but I usually hold out for an auction with a decent starting price (like 99 cents) instead of Buy It Now style auctions, or I'd rather wait for a "manual only" auction on my "missing manual" games rather than buy another entire copy of a game.  I do/did have a few of the "missing games" already, though, loose carts or they have since gone missing (I had a package of a deal I got on Kung Fu Kid, Quartet and Rampage that the seller shipped to the wrong address originally that I'm starting to doubt will ever make its way to me).

If anyone has extras of anything I'm missing that you would be willing to part with, send me a private message and we'll see if we can make a deal.  Also, since I know more than just TCP members have my site bookmarked, when a game comes up in the schedule that I'm missing, I'll put a link to a quick contact form for any interested party that wants to part with a copy.

Lastly, I would possibly be interested in doing a scan project of Sega Genesis and Sega Game Gear manuals, though, my Genesis set was damaged in storage (only had about 50 games, primarily Sega published titles) and my Game Gear games are from my younger years, and I've no clue where they ended up (only had about 20 games, and haven't seen them or my Game Gear (or my Sega Nomad for that matter) since probably 1997).  Anyways, long story short, if people think there might be interest in donating manuals to a Genesis and/or Game Gear project, let me know.  Similar to this, but the link is currently down:

http://byuu.org/snes/preservation/

Though, Byuu never released any scans that I'm aware of.  He also wanted games, though, I'm not necessarily interested in having a full set of Genesis games (I do have to share this house with the wife and kids :)), plus I would think people might be more willing to donate spare manuals than entire games, and I'd cover shipping costs (letter rate would be pretty cheap, or even media mail if someone has a stash).  Or even, forego donations and have people just mail me their stack of manuals, and I'd cover shipping costs for return shipping once they've been scanned, and I'd have the list on the site of what's already on its way, and I'd post scans of games as soon as I finished them.

I think my site, ratigators.com speaks for itself in that I'm serious about scanning and not just hording stuff.

Would anyone be interested in anything like that or have any better ideas?

First set of scans are up (Action Fighter and Zillion II: The Tri Formation).  Also, to note, the Sega Master System had a ton of variants, primarily due to the fact in America it was released and marketed by Tonka (not Sega), and eventually, Sega took things over (so, some things were reprinted, and some things got stickers to cover up Tonka text).

A fantastic resource for all of the variants is here:

http://shinobiman.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=8587&page=1

And an also fantastic write up on what caused all of these variants (as well as why the last 4 USA releases were actually just EUR versions with new UPC stickers) is here:

I switched up all of my links to use the new MediaFire gallery format.  They previously defaulted to the old gallery format that they had since removed, which resulted in the links going straight to just a file list.

So, now they are back to a nice gallery view if someone wants to read a manual without ever downloading it.

Also, as noted on my site, if you could care less about viewing a manual online and just want to download it, just remove the "/view" from the URL.  The old gallery format had a "File Manager" button to get back to the file listing, though, the new one does not.

I've had some success (and failures) in crossing a few items off of my list, which I now moved to the first post in the thread and I'll keep updated there.

I picked up replacement manuals for the following games:

My Hero
Pro Wrestling

And picked up copies of the following games:

Aerial Assault
Bomber Raid
Golden Axe
Kung Fu Kid
Quartet
Slap Shot
Spider-Man

I lost auctions on replacement copies of Ghost House, The Ninja.

Nothing purchased has arrived just yet, so Bomber Raid will be skipped over tomorrow and updated once it shows up (as will Aerial Assault).

Though, I did get this in the mail the other day

Mortal Kombat (EUR)
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?fgki3hv8dqo22#

I only scanned the insert, and don't plan on scanning the manual.  It's one of the EUR games where the manual isn't stapled, it's glued because it's as thick as a book (because it contains sections for 8 different languages) and wouldn't scan well at all.

Lastly, I honestly didn't even notice my Blade Eagle 3-D insert was sun damaged until after I uploaded it today, so I'll add that to the list to replace.

With today's scans of Strider, it's the first of the set of the last 4 US titles that were simply repackaged EUR releases (as Sega was switching gears in the US and focusing on the Genesis).  Hence why the insert and manual are multilingual as well as the alternate manual layout (landscape).

Super Monaco GP came in the mail today, so I'll get this scanned in and linked (since I skipped it earlier).  I'll eventually do the same for the others.  It's not that the other games aren't easily obtainable, it's that I tend to wait for a reasonably priced auction to bid on (which from time to time I'll lose) rather than just picking them all up via Buy It Now listings on eBay.

Also, I have noticed that some inserts don't look as good out of the case as they did in the case, Ghostbusters for example, where, in the case behind the thick textured sleeve, it looked perfect, though, outside the sleeve it has some wrinkles.  I've been making notes along the way, and I'll probably eventually add some saved searches to pick up some alt copies to replace the scans, though, I'm in no huge rush.  If and when I do any replacements, as usual, I'll post in this thread.

Super Monaco GP has been uploaded along with the today's other scheduled games.

I also have copies of Captain Silver and Dead Angle on the way, and I'll get those scanned in when they arrive.

In addition to today's two scheduled games to be posted, I also scanned in and uploaded Captain Silver and Dead Angle, both of which arrived over the weekend.

Also, with Miracle Warriors: Seal of the Dark Lord, I scanned in the map as 9 separate scans and assembled them all together into one large JPG.  Be sure to check it out, if for nothing more than the hilarious typo in the game's subtitle at the top of the map.

I also updated the original post with what I'm still missing, so if anyone has anything they'd like to donate or sell for a fair price, let me know.

I've got copies of Alex Kidd: High-Tech World, Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker in the mail.  I got outbid on Casino Games, so that one will have to wait a bit longer.

Today wraps up my scheduled Sega Master System insert/manual scans.  There are still 6 games, 3 manuals and 2 replacement inserts that I still need to eventually pick up, and I'll post here in this thread when I make any updates.

As mentioned yesterday, I have 3 more games on the way that I'll get scanned and uploaded once they arrive.

For those wanting some more stats, so far I'm at 1,182 Sega Master Scans, so if you take away the insert scans and do the math, that's another 2,148 pages of manuals scanned.

As for MediaFire stats, they tell me I'm now hosting 11,348 Sega scans.  If you take away the zip files and once again do the math, that means I've scanned about 10,564 times, resulting in approximately 21,128 pages of manuals scanned.

I did post in a few places (CAG, DigitPress, SegaAge, etc, and including here earlier in this thread) about trying to do a more collaborative effort on Genesis and Game Gear, with manuals either being donated or with me covering cost of shipping and return shipping (to ensure a level of consistency with all scans), and I received no response.

So, other than scanning in any missing items I pick up or deciding to do back inserts across the board for Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast, this closes the book on my system level scan projects.

Absolutely monumental effort, great job!!

is there any chance you would create a torrent of the master system stuff?

Thanks, I appreciate it.

As for creating a torrent, downloading an entire system wasn't really my goal. My intent was to offer up high quality scans for people to replace any manuals they are missing, so you can quickly click on a game to view online, or, remove the "view" from the URL to get access to the zip for that game.

Though, I do know that someone over at The Iso Zone downloaded and repackaged all of my Dreamcast manuals and posted torrents (found the link when I was browsing Google Analytics). I wouldn't be surprised if someone else is already working on the same for the other systems I've done.
