When putting PS1 games into DVD sized cases, for the most part you have no issue with the manuals, right? What about those of us who have Big Box PS1 games? What about US and European Sega CD and Saturn games? They just wont fit in a DVD case, or a poly case for sure.

Well. using a PS2 sized manual I came up with a solution, converting these bigger manuals into smaller formfactors preferably 8.95 x 7.107 inches

here is my mediafire link to the folder with the templates, lets go to town. (box wouldn't upload em...) All of them have US and Pal, but only the Dreamcast one has Japanese.

I was thinking of doing this for my Sega CD and Sega Saturn games some time and just print out simple Black & White manuals. Possibly my Dreamcast game too since out of the 25-30 games I have, only about 5 of them have their original manuals.

Very cool, I'm definitely going to look into making some Dreamcast manuals. I'll probably convert the template to a style similar to the DVD cases I've been doing.

Something along the lines of Arseen's response of "hey cool, I have some manuals I can do" but I do see your point.

The problem with making manuals is that if every page is the same size, when you put the manual together & fold it the middle pages will stick out.  If you open up a manual to the middle & flatten it out you will see that the pages get smaller as you get to the middle.

Actually I never thought about that but it will only be mm or less right?
2 + 3 = 23

Even on thick SNES manual less than 2mm.
But if yo want perfection, the solution to this is guillotine cutter. After assembling the manual cut the one side with it.

Yeah, it's not a huge deal, seeing as most of the sega manuals are pretty plain.  But some manuals have a border around the pages, and while 2mm isn't a lot it will cut off some of that border.  Also I've seen a few manuals where the writing goes right to the edge of the page.  So when making these manuals dvd size, it would be good to make sure there is a little bit of space between the wording & the edge of the page for those of us who can't handle our pages sticking out. ;D

That being said, I think this is a long overdue project & I'm glad to see someone is finally pushing to do it.  I don't have a huge collection, but I do have 10 or so saturn games.  If I ever get a scanner I could scan the manuals for the games I have.  I would even be crazy enough to take out the staples to get a better quality scan.

Let me know your thoughts on this:

http://db.tt/VrJxhcH

That's my "pull the first one off the shelf, slap it on the scanner with a piece of black craft paper behind it, scan directly to USB, and batch rename, rotate and crop from lower left at 2800x2360 using IrfanView."

I could "probably" knock out a single Sega CD and Sega Saturn title per day (Sim City 2000 may take a week :)).  We've got another kid on the way, so I can't put any guarantee on that schedule, but it at least looks nice on paper.

I know my scans never seemed to be the preferred option (they come 300dpi and sharp, and if you dig through my scan thread, you'll see adding some blur produces results more in kind with others).

Those scans dont seem to bad, and seeing as these are just black and white reprint manuals I dont think the quality should be that much of an issue. Im not too worried about it. But theres definetly a good few Sega CD and Saturn games I could use manuals for so it would be alot of help, even if it is only one manual here and there every once in a while.

I have a folder with almost all the SCD manuals in PDF form. I would be glad to share them with anyone who wants them.
